While no study is perfect (and most are open to interpretation, especially in the human studies), they are better than sitting around saying, "Well I don't see it that way. My opinion is..." And Milgram did a lot of studies other than the one you're referring to. He spent 20 or 30 years doing studies on violence. I don't know that he was the one that did the study I'm talking about. (OTOH, I don't know that he didn't.) I did say that after the first killing, people will probably become more hardened to the act. (Actually, I would guess it would be after the second one.) I think someone who kills for the first time without any inner remorse (note: not what they publicly avow or are encouraged to admit to) would probably be considered psychologically damaged. But that's just MHO. (Having said that, go back and read the first sentence again... )

Oh for Gods SAKE! I thought you only stole two mugs and one of 'em was pewter?! This second one looks like a honey colored wooden keg and his a flip-top lid. Four copper-ish barrel hoops. Bueller? Bueller? Anyone? "GET OUT OF HERE WITH THAT MUG! LAY OFF THE POOR BEAVERS WILL YOU? SHEESH! YOU'RE A CREEP! GO AWAY! WE WERE ALL HAVING A GOOD TIME UNTIL YOU SHOWED UP WITH YOUR STOLEN MUGS! OOOH! GO HAVE SOME COFFEE... WITH CREAM...OR SOMETHING! BECAUSE I'LL TELL YOU SOMETHING: THIS IS A HAPPY PLACE!" (Er...that's pretty obscure. A reference may be helpful: Dance of Doom Part 2!

Hopefully someone burned it in effigy...

Ah... sorry. I was running out the door when I finished that post and that was the word that popped into my head. "Classic MD" would have been more appropriate.

That's not Original Cynn? Someone lied to me...

Some more dumb questions. Who is this guy with the hammer? What crew is he with? Does anyone know the Oriental Dressed Pirate's name? He's the left most person in line here. He's a vendor in the fort. Who are these two charming people? Just what the heck is Cynn doing here? (Ok, that doesn't really require an answer...)

Bwa-ha-ha! The All Girl's Cannoneers get inducted with the stynky sponge. Look at all of their expressions! (I think Grace got a raw deal, though. She had already fired cannon and been inducted.)

Ha ha! This is a great one of Ashley/Isabelle/Isabella: Don't try this at home: (This is assuming you have a fort wall with a moat at the base of it at home.) Hilarious! As if Silverhawk isn't funny enough without Bucky to back him up!) Ah, really goofy. My favorite pose... This guy looks like he's up to something: Methinks Mae doth not Approve of the course of this battle: Methinks Bucky doth do Approve of the Pirates Taking the Fort: (Or maybe not. Bucky's so hard to read...) Two Regal Personages:

Three days of doing nothing but scouring photo sites. I think work may be easier than this! Back to the Callahans for a bit: A nice pic of me, Stynky and Jessi. Oddly, Jessi's wallet turned up missing on this day. Someone charged $5000 to her credit cards. Curious... Not another Mad Dog, but he may be slightly peeved at his ridiculous head gear... A good one of Nick and...crud! I've forgotten her name again! I keep thinking it's Ashley, but I know it's not. A lovely shot of withoutaname. (She needs to change her user ID around here.) 'Twas the Season! Sir Nigel the Loud. Good Lord! The Viceroy is a lycanthrope! A good shot of Diosa:

These shots are from the Thatcher's Photos. They take photos like you'd expect to find in a guide book - many of them quite crisp and lovely. These are serious, y'all. No jokes from me... The temple that is Fort Taylor: Pre-encampment, the site. Location, location, location: Lady Constance at the Hide: Sunset at the Beach: A Pirate's Pirate keeping his equipment clean: Baby Lion with Hot Sauce: (You haveta read the journal to make sense of the title. Sorry.) Michael firing on a ship. (I hope that's Michael.) A candid moment (These shots contain many such unposed gems):

You were in the really special classes at school, weren't you? It's NOT MY MUG!! I notice you only set my post count back so that it's right up against the limit again. (I'll be happy to switch User IDs again if you like.)

These are from Cpt Sophia M Eisleys photos. Speaking of not knowing people, who is this? Scarlett Jai? It's a cool shot: And who's on the ground? I like everyone's expressions in this shot. Good acting: This is a very lush photo. Like the color and detail for some reason: (I think it's because of the beautiful Australian Pines.) This looks nice. Anyone know whose encampment this is? Deadeye's Ashram from the side: (One great thing about this event is all the photos. Someone always has an interesting take on the same thing.) One of the cleaning crew at the Hide: Scullery maids at work on the Salmagundi: The manifold wonders of the Australian Pine in Fort Edward Taylor:

He...? That's Mary diamond. Tsk. Tsk. Oh! Sorry, Mary! After all those nice things I said about you previously, too. I thought it was Michael with his rifle. (He has a coat about that color.) Apologies.

These are from Cheeky's photo collection. I am a trifle confused because many of them look identical to photos from Michael and Kate's collection - particularly of Lob, the twins at the beach and some of the other later photos. (Are they the same photos? Who took them?) Ha ha ha! Crocodile Tears? Don't mess with the Captain: "He's Dead Jim...": (And just where was the surgeon when he was shot? I mean to say, really!) The All Girls Cannon Crew in Action: The vastly overshadowed M.A. dDogge Cannon Crew in Action: Check out those sexy calves. (The two way in the background on the far right side of the beach.)

As Sophia mentioned, the text is here. As Michael said, the PiP '08 page isn't done. Heck, it isn't truly started. Preparations are underway - I am culling the photos as we speak. I don't really want to start doing the actual page until Poppa Ratsey Callahan has finished uploading all his shots, though. He has battle pics and most of us were all too busy battling to take many of them. (Except for Grace, who has not yet given us access to all her stuff and some photos Sophia got.) I personally don't expect the web page to be ready until at least the end of this month. (This time there are going to be several easter egg pages in the web page journal...I have too many photos that really need to be commented on by your ship's surgeon that don't fit the narrative.) For now, go read Sophia's notes though. She saw things I didn't.
-
I did that on purpose, you know. To look more drunk and all. (Stynky later provided more than adequate incentive for becoming real drunk - and all.) I should note that all the pics in the last two posts full of pics came from Michael and Kate's collection of photos. They appear to have added some since the first time I looked at it.

What navy do you think this is...? Ok, remember you asked, so don't lets everyone gang up on me for dragging facts into the PiP forum... “Surgeons, too, were always in demand and well paid if they would join a gang, when, in addition to getting a share of any loot, they would be paid as much as 250 dollars a voyage. Generally speaking, any such surgeon was not required to sign articles of agreement if he was only required to undertake professional work." (Thrower, W.R., The Pirate Picture, p. 81) Thrower is actually not my favorite source, I have a much better one, but the copy of my notes on this computer is not up to date to the notes on my laptop. There is a better explanation of the surgeon/pirate article situation in Leo Eloesser's Article from Annals of Medical History called Pirate and Buccaneer Doctors. Perhaps I will try and get his comments in here this weekend when I am on the laptop with a nice friendly Panara wireless connection.

Sophia sent this to me in advance and I heartily endorse it. She has a very breezy style and it's well worth the reading. (Plus it's not quite so damned long-winded as some other journals I could mention.)

Michael and Kate got some nice shots of the Hanging. This is my favorite for some reason: (Check out that sexy calf...the one way in the background looking for it's mother.) This is just about exactly the way I remember Sunday night in the Tavern: And there's pics like this that make me wonder why I have anything at all to do with Stynky. Gah.
-
I would never have thought to find something like this in the photos! That is so going on my website with a suitable caption - if I can think of one that isn't too tawdry... This is a nice shot of Jessi's face: I like this one of you two: (There's a fantastic shot of Kate earlier in the album, but it's sideways.) This is a good one too: A nice one of the Sunset Cannon Firing Crew: The colours in this shot are gorgeous: Ditto (That's Silas, right?)

Do I gotta watch you people every second? You should have put the saw higher...then it could have read 'Lob gets a lobotomy.'
-
Real thin....isn't he dead? It would be sort of cool to be among the walking undead. I mean, you wouldn't be invited to (most) parties, but...
-
Oh, this one absolutely rocks: A good one of Fiddler Mark: Another lovely one of Mary: Josh and Anna doing the Patented Micheal Bagley 100 Mile stare: Nice:

I wish I looked like River Phoenix. (Either as he did, or, in some weird way, as he does now.) I should be so thin... My scarf just reminded me of Indy's BSA togs. And the hat isn't that far off either. This would be fine if I were portraying a Boy Scout, but not it's so fine when you're portraying an abducted pirate crew member. Er...I like all colors. (If I tell you, Stynky will probably dye all my clothing in that color at PiP next year. (Paranoid much?)) My favorite color is blue. And also reddish-purple, as found in the 64 Crayon Crayola™ box.
