  1. Prayers are the best. Cash is a darned close second.

Folks, if you can, send something...even if it's only $5, to the Red Cross and mark it for disaster relief.

There are a lot of poor families that have been hit hard and it may be months before they can assume some sort of normal life. In NO, the 9th Ward is gone and I'm pretty sure these folks don't have two dimes to rub together. They are going to be living hand to mouth for a long time to come. I'm sure the same applies for many families in Mississippi as well.

    Every little bit helps.

  2. This hurricane just had to be named Katrina didn't it? My cousin's horrible ex-wife is named Katrina. The whole family always considered her a force of nature with the way things happened in their marriage and the crap being pulled between their 3 year old son. How do they come up with these names for these hurricanes and why name them anyway?

Reminds of something my insurance agent said yesterday...

"Mother Nature must have an ex-husband in New Orleans."

Twas about the only funny thing she said.

  3. Thanks Hurricane. There's a lot of folks down there that are going to need a LOT of help.

BTW, has anyone heard from Captain William? Last I checked, he's from New Orleans.

  4. I made it out on Sunday. Unfortunately, I missed Madam Macaw and you Crimson, but got to meet a few others.

I was the sweaty idiot in a black Calico Jack JR tee and a cowboy hat.

Garb and a motorcycle don't mix, hence the Southern Maryland look for me that day.

Ah well, hope to meet more of you next time out.

  5. Glad she miss you all, but the b*tch destroyed my house.

I am NOT a happy l'il pirate at the moment. I'm safe and dry in MD, but the house I just bought this winter in Uptown is smashed.

  6. I know someday someone would see my PYRACY decale on the work van..

My boss is not to crazy about a security van with a Jolly Roger on the back window. But we pirates love to fly our colors :P

Heh, a JR on the back of a l'il blue Matrix just doesnt' have the same effect I'm afraid. :)

  7. hey pynch...was toying with the idea of flying up to va with my son during xmas break (he has to visit his dad)...

anywho...put me on the books to get "the sparrow tattoo"....who better to get a pirate tattoo from, than from another pirate!... :(

You got it Pais! Just give me a heads up about a week in advance and I'll write you in.

    Don't forget the EMLA. :)

  8. ...traditionally, heads face forward, or inward whenever possible, on the simplest of designs.

With all due respect, this "correct" orientation thing is nothing but a ridiculous piece of superstition with no practical value whatsoever and should be dismissed as such.

With all due respect, "correctness" has nothing to do with superstition. It has to do with respecting the tradition in which I was taught by the men and women who put in the time and skill to pass on the art of tattooing. All things are subject to change, but it is my preference to respect my mentor's skill as a traditional artist and as such, I prefer to pass on those teachings rather than dismiss them out of hand.

And I find your evaluation of the "ridiculous" traditions of my trade offensive.

If you would like to continue this discussion privately, please feel free to PM me.

  9. I also have plans for another that will signify the time when I was 6 and fell in love with all things piratical. It of course was the POTC ride in Disneyland.

I'm with you on that one Ace. :)

And it really is a well done (and obviously well thought out) tattoo. I'm sure you'll wear it proudly.

  10. it's just a major phobia concerning needles and pain that keeps me from getting a tat.

    lmao....one word....

    EMLA

    snicker

    quit laughing pynch!

No one's laughing here...I'm getting my shoulder/trap/back finished and I WISH I had a bit of EMLA at the moment!

    Yep...I'm a big wuss! :)

  11. There is nothing like a "correct direction" for a tattoo.

The direction is any way the owner likes to wear it. If it's upside down, mirror- reverse and oblique and you wanted it that way, it's just fine as any. It isn't "incorrect" just because it faces one way or the other.

    Nice work there, Ace!

Beg to differ my dear...although I agree, the wearer has the final say over his/her placement...traditionally, heads face forward, or inward whenever possible, on the simplest of designs.

But what do I know...I just do it for a living. :)

  12. Such handsome men! ::swoons and bonks her head on the keyboard::

Seriously guys, the effort you put into your garb speaks volumes of your love of re-enactment and history. Makes a thrift-store pyrate like myself green with envy. :)

  13. Hmmmm... in our.. Oh, I call it more my attire than garb. I could literially live in it.

Well... these be a bit old... I shall have new ones coming soon, though.

    that last pic...WOW!
