Ahoy Freebooters and scoundrels! I've been away for quite some time!
I was wondering if ye can help out a weary pyrate. I've entered me bloody gourd into a Pumpkin Contest on oddodd.com and this fearsome pirate needs the help of all fellow brethren near and far!
Here's the direct link:
http://www.oddtodd.com/pumpkontest4/index2.htm
My dastardly pumpkin is #56, - the light blue Cinderella Carriage - very bottom row - left.
AYE! There be shark infested waters me hearties!!! Very undeserving landlubbin' pumpkins are winning as I type this missive and scandalous voting abound. I need a good 40 more votes to take the lead.
If ye can welcome me back to the fold, I would much appreciate it and GROG FOR all if I should take me place as winner.
If you wish to vote, a we bit of warnin' mates...you have to type in a valid email address and wait for a voting confirmation email! I know this place is full off pyrates, but no cheatin' as Ye Olde Webmaster of the Good Ship Odd Todd is checking IP address and emails to avoid cheatin'
ARRRR appreciate all your piratical help!
Captain Morgana Bloodheart!
PS - Do let me know how you like me pumkin' as it would do me heart good! Do it for Pirates, do it for Jack Sparrow!!!!!
Was that convincing enough?

SYDNEY, Australia - A replica of the ship that British explorer James Cook sailed when he discovered Australia more than 200 years ago got stuck on a sandbar off Sydney on Sunday, five months after leaving Britain to retrace the historic voyage.
AP Photo
The tall ship Endeavour was stuck for four hours in Botany Bay near a monument commemorating Cook's visit to the port on April 29, 1770. Cook was a lieutenant in Britain's Royal Navy at the time.
Rod Kemp, Australia's arts and sport minister, who spent the day on board, said it was fitting that the crew enjoyed a perfect viewing of the landing place of Port Kurnell.
"Kurnell was a special place for Cook and the boat stuck on the sand bank in full view of the memorial, so there you go," Kemp said. "Fortunately the boat was able to get clear water and she's still completely seaworthy."
The boat set sail from Britain in November to retrace the voyage of the original Endeavour when it discovered Australia. It followed Cook's route, traveling to South America, Tahiti, the Pacific Islands and New Zealand before reaching Australia's east coast.
While the boat missed firing broadsides from her cannon in a welcome-home parade, hundreds of people still waited dockside for her arrival at the Australian National Maritime Museum.
Kemp said the Australian government would contribute $576,000 a year to allow the replica Endeavour to operate tours from its base outside the museum in Sydney's Darling Harbor.

"I was very excited when we got this from a private collector who was on the set during filming, it is the Jack Sparrow Telescope with leather handle, this has been noticably used and the brass is a little worn and so is the leather, I am not sure if it was from storage or it was intentionally done this way, a true collectors piece. Comes with COA on parchment paper and prop ID # assigned to this. 16" Brass in size. Buyer to pay shipping and insurance. "

AHOY ME HEARTIES!! I be havin' interesting news regardin' our ol' chum PIRATESRUS, our friendly local landlubbin', functionally illiterate EBAY pirate: http://stores.ebay.com/Pirates-R-Us. Or if you rather, Mr. POTC Prop.
I was asked earlier this evening to deliver a very important message from John owner of www.deadmentellnotales.com. It seems that John has narrowed down the search for "PiratesRus" and the bildge water is about to hit the fan. I would appreciate if you know anybody who has bought a "POTC Prop" from PiratesRus, please direct them to this message
Copy/paste from an email
John says:
Re: PiratesRUs Fraud
We have several people
investigating this and we have temporarily suspended shipments to some of our wholesale customers while we look into this. We are also in contact with eBay, but we can use your help. If you know anyone who has purchased anything from piratesrus, please ask them to send us any information they have on this dealer, such as name, address, phone number, email address, even city or state -- anything that will help us in our investigation. We will really appreciate it and it will assist us in putting this dealer out of business and prevent further people from being fraudulantly ripped off by them.
What we need is any information we can get from one of his buyers. A copy of one of his email notes would be great. If you know anyone who has bought from him, please have them contact me at this address

I bought a Dialect Cd & Booklet from here
http://www.paulmeier.com/booklets.html
I emailed this Paul Meier and asked him which English dialect CD I should order, he suggested I purchase the Hampshire Dialect. Hw offers a pretty nifty service, you can order custom CD's using your own text and he also offers phone coaching.
It's great and all, but I need to find a source to 1700's it up. I've been listening to to it all day, I think I should have ordered the Cockney CD..not sure yet, I'll work with it some more.
Hawkins, do you have a source on Faire dialect? Perhaps Cascabel is right, maybe I should just "go Hollywood"
-
Ahoy there o' learned piratical people!
I wish to study up on 1600's -1700's English. I found this CD online today and does anybody think this would be of any use to me? Afterall, I can only watch POTC so many times

I emailed this land lubber regarding histhe authenticity of his "Will Turner Axe" auction, linking him to my Screen Cap comparision on my photobucket account, which is also posted here. Needless to say, I never heard back from him.
LOL! He claims to be on the set after the "FILMITING" That clears things up for me.

**Wakes up from a Nighttime Nyqil and X-tra strength Sudafed haze**
AACHOOO!! I hope I didn't give anybody a computer virus after that sneeze
That be great news Bess! I'm sure that will be extemely popular!
Let's hope for a Barbossa too! They could swash all kinds of buckles between the two of them. :)
I would make one small recommendation to the future Jack Sparrow of the Park.... Iron underwear. I'm sure he we be manhandled..er umm WOMANhandled on a regular basis. He might wind up with an overly pinched bottom if he doesn't keep a weather eye out fer roving hands.

**goes back for more Sudafed**

[That's got to be the worst pirate I've ever heard of!!! :)
So it would seem
Sorry had to slip that one in there....

I really think that this is no big deal and I'm quite sure that Disney know about various people trying to sell phony POTC merchandis. It has happened in the past with other movies and no one losses any sleep over it. I agree that it is wrong and should be stopped, but, then there is a lot of wrong that should be stopped. Just a thought............... The Capt.
Capt Flint, I'm sorry that you don't care that people are getting ripped off and taken advantage of. That's fine that ye don't. To each 'is own mate.
Perhaps I shouldn't, buy I DO care when people get taken and held for fools by big corporations or even by scurvy landlubbin' Ebay pirates. I guess life would be so much easier and less complicated if nobody cared about such things, right mate? I for one feel terrible that these people think they have something from POTC. I feel terrible that they will show it off their new found "POTC plunder" off to their friends thinking that they have the real thing.
Yeah, It bugs me that there are people out there with no conscience. He is the one who has to look at himself in the mirror. We may be pirates mate, but we are good people.

-
-> That's a short summary 'bout her. Will keep on searching.
Edit:Also found something 'bout an article in preparation that's called "Pirate Kingdom: Sweden 1562-1583.", written by Jason Lavery.
Thank ye Kon Tiki!
"Pirate Kingdon" sounds like an interesting read!!

props?
in Pyrate Pop
Well, ye do have an interesting question thar Robert.
I guess people want AUTHENTIC movie props for collecting purposes and to generally say they have an authentic movie prop!!
I would LOVE to have an authentic POTC anything for this very reason!
I would think that the authentic movie props hold their value and more than likely, appreciate in value!
I think the more popular the movie determines the price! However, I have seen plenty of movie props from movies that people can't give away!
This was quite a number of years ago...I read somewhere thatg somebody bought the original Maltese Falcom for approx 3 million!!
Recently Johnny Depp's costume he wore in "Don Juan DeMarco" went for somethin like $1500.00 - $2,000 ish!
I can't imagine what the authentic Jack Sparrow would get!! WHOOO!!
-
,Those of you who know of the classic Zoom will know what I'm talking about with the arms thing.
I used to drive me older brothers to the brink of madness with the "Arms Thing" says I. Almost walked me off the plank they did.
Yes, I can still do it.
-
More prop comparison while I'm at it
By the way this seller added this sentence to the "Barbossa Hat" auction - which is now unavailable to buy
"The seller ended this listing early because the item is no longer available for sale"
-
Just for kicks I decided to do a little POTC Prop comparsion..AHEM!!
Here is his "POTC" Drum alledgedly used in the Gallows scene:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=2263062874
Here is the screen cap I just made, there are only two quick closeups of the drums being used in this scene, I think the main parts of the drums here are blue.
