This i get just now <_<<_<

Local officials turn North Liberty into pirate cove

Swords, pistols and threats of plunder are not things usually associated with a hospitality committee, but that's exactly the kind of welcome Melisa Henley envisioned for riders of the Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa as they entered North Liberty.

"We wanted the riders to know we are pirates of the corridor, and they will be with pirates for the next 24 hours," Henley said.

Henley, North Liberty's RAGBRAI hospitality chairwoman, was responsible for putting together the decorations for North Liberty's bash. She also coordinated 40 volunteers to act as cheerleaders, cheering for riders as they entered North Liberty.

The centerpiece of Henley's decoration efforts was a 25- by 12-foot, three dimensional pirate ship that spanned the bike route at the entrance of town. The ship, complete with a parrot, cutout waves and masts, was designed by local artist and art teacher Kathryn Samuelson and built with the help of Henley's husband, Rick.

A professional pirate also joined the ranks of Henley's cheerleaders.

Lady Barbossa, aka ***** ****** of Cedar Rapids, works as a professional pirate. Although her saber and belt full of flintlock pistols were fairly intimidating, she politely greeted the riders before asking for their booty.

"I'll do anything to put a smile on a child's face or brighten a rider's day," she said.

  2. I had to tell about this, if anyone is near Holland or travels there by chance, there will be a huge event of 4 days in Den Helder with 70 ships.

The largest in the world and the ones just below there as well as historical ships etc will be there.

Here's an English discriptian of the event:

I'll be posting pics for sure, I'll be going two days..when they arrive (ships in full sail) and when i visit them.

I've got a camera with 10x OPTIAL zoom now so it should work ;);)

  3. Thanks guys!

Sorry for the late response, I've been away on vacation.

Nice pics of some sailing vessels if they'd worked, will check them asap.

i just returned from a five hour trip home.

  4. It's been a long time but as you know i always return :)

It's good to be here, sorry for not being here but..well life and all that.

    How has everyone been?

Greets from Holland, I'm off on vacation for a week on Monday but will come bye for more before then.

Here's a round of beer for all!

  5. You guys want to go to the Geoffrey Rush group page on daily motion, there's several interviews on Golden Age with Geoff there :)

I can't wait to see it but his new project filming right now sounds so much fun!

Just the role for Geoffrey Rush B)

This is a copy of an article about it :)

Previous reports said Jang would be working with Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi, but the PR firm said Zhang couldn't fit the movie into her schedule. The Hollywood actress was chosen for the leading role since the lead female character had changed, the firm said.

"Laundry Warrior" is a futuristic action-fantasy story about an Asian warrior's adventure in the American west. Jang plays the fugitive warrior who hides out in the badlands, where he encounters a town drunk (Rush) and a beautiful woman (Bosworth) who dreams of revenge for the abuse she suffered as a child.

Bosworth has appeared in "Superman Returns", "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!", "Beyond the Sea," and "Remember the Titans." Rush has starred in "Munich" and the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies. Variety said Jang "is the star of many of Korea's biggest grossing movies including 'Typhoon,' 'Taegukgi' and 'Friend.'"

  6. Tell me about it!

He wrote me another letter and signed pic, a big photo signed with the letter on the background.

I was so at awe (no pun intended) having now a collection of four signed pics and two letters.. B)

I mean..is he brilliant or what?

    What (famous) actors do that????

He's been busy, writing fans all over the world since ending Golden Age filming.

I'm happy for you Christine, it's wonderful GO GIRL!!!! B)B)B)B)B)

  7. Hey guys, i don't know if ye remember me the pirate (wannabee B) ) chick from the Netherlands but I'm back!

I've missed this place but my health is so crappy this year i can't be at the pc much but..hey..who could stay away here?

Instead of going over twenty new posts I'll just say welcome to all i didn't reply to, nice meetin' ye.

I'm a Dutchie pirate minded lass who's adicted to Captain Barbossa B)

I love tallships old and new and love to visit sail events but unfortunitely no sailing for me, the money lacks but i still enjoy a good pirate movie, history or fiction book or anything involving sailing ships.

  8. I see i returned just at the right time..one mad Jack is great two is greater B)

I'm the ever lost girl but they know me here as Charity and this is the first time I'm here in months..

  9. That's a good schedule, ever having trouble keeping to it?

I enjoy the idea of doing it "Together" , living alone is the big problem.. it's hard to keep the discipline alone but friends are doing it too..though their living a bit away doesn't help either.

I want to try and be a little less tired before my vacation to England this year though, maybe in two months or so, even if i loose a little it may help :)

  10. Lucky you :)

I'm too much alone feeling lonely and bored sometimes too i guess and I'm too much of an emotional eater but i so hate to walk through the city looking in the shop windows feeling miserable all the time.

I again want to try and loose weight but i fear it'll be a disaster once more, but..i keep trying..

  11. So cool, i wish we had them.

I've been getting into Tudor age and the Dukes of Norfolk (4th one most of all) to the extend i listen to renaissance music all the time, have a gift tapestry with the coat of arms of the Dukes of Norfolk and have written to and received a reply from His Grace the 18th Duke of Norfolk.

I love the renaissance and wish we had renaissance fairs but it's mostly medieval here, which i love too by the way.

I can't wait to see pics from this fair
