Take a look here at these....they be a bit pricy but perhaps that is cause they be rare...... Tiny Pirates and Wenches I'll have ta save me dabloons! KP

In studying piracy I have found that they often Pressed Or "forced" men of skill found on the ships they took. For example a carpenter of navigator and on some occasions a fiddler. On one pirate ship some of the men wanted to keep a parson to ease their way to heaven but they were out voted. For more examples read "Under the Black Flag, Exploits of the Most Notorious Pirates" by Don C. Seitz......stories of 41Pirate captains are told. Fair Winds KP

I used a hot glue gun and paper binder clamps as I went to hold it in place.

I just visited Tall Ships Books and found a great buy. "The Sweet Trade" by James L. Nelson under the pen name Elizabeth Garrett. It is about Ann Bonny and Mary Reed for $6.99.....They also have the revised verson with James L. Nelson using his own name for $16.95 called "The only Thing That Mattered." Thought I would pass it on. KP

St. Augustine is the oldest, continuously occupied city, founded in 1565 by Pedro Menendez.

I loved it and that is a good thing because my cable system showed it about twenty or more times this year so far (and I watched it almost every time...lol). I loved the ship-to-ship battle, which I think to be second only to Master and Commander. I think it to be a true traditional pirate tale. KP

Thank Ye kindly, sir. My wife( who reviews and corrects my happy finger mistakes, most of the time ) says she thinks she likes "Pursuit of Honor" much better than Falcon's Revenge. Must be that Topsail Ketch in the later chapters...lol Thanks again Captain for all your help! It is much appreciated. Happy Sailing Joe PS: Being a true son of the South, I does my heart good to see the Confederate Battle Flag flying from her mast.

Morn'n Maggie Not much Pirate'n here in St. Augustine except for special events like Drake's Raid and Searl's Raid...There is the Pirate Haus an Inn but lots of history. Go to this St. Augustine web site and have a look around. Old City Take a sail on The TopSail Schooner Freedom Just North of St. Augustine, on the St. Johns River in Jacksonville is the Rattlesnake at the Maritine Heritage Foundation. Plenty of things to do and see. I am sure you will enjoy your visit to the Nations Oldest City. Fair Winds KP

Favorite piracy book rebound to match the period
King's Pyrate replied to Capn_Enigma's topic in Thieves Market
It is a Beautiful piece of work, sir. You must be proud. KP -
I shaped my hat by bending it as I wanted it then attached the brem to the crown with a hot glue gun. I held it in place with general office binder clips. I did the gold trim the same way...Good luck. KP

I have the book. The story was not too bad but it was so historically inaccurate that it drove me nuts. If you are not into nautical history too much, you may find it a good read. Let me know how you like it. KP

Quill You just have to do something with Sabor's outfit.....he just looks too comfortable...especially in those sandals......everyone else is trussed up in their garb and he is just laid back and happy......Bet he is the smartest fellow there most likely he is dressed like a real pirate would be in the tropics...lol Great Photos, as usual. Thanks for sharing your fun. KP

Just send an email to joe@josephlosteen.com with "Falcon Contest" in the subject bar. Be sure to include the address of where you would like the book sent should you win. To review the overview of the book Falcon's Revenge, overview Good luck to you Joe

Royalist The books are going to be sold through the normal online distribution such as Barnes & Noble and Amazon.....For specialty shops like Tall Ships Books I usually have them sent to me from the printer. I sign them then send them on to the shop. I can do that for the Royalist as well. Royalist being a nonprofit organization would get the same discount as any book store....That would give The Royalist Foundation a percentage of each book for her maintenance and preservation. Just let me know when you are set up and want to start handling them. Just email me (joe@josephlosteen.com) and I will give you the particulars of shipping and discount. In the meantime Tall Ships Books is taking orders. Fair Winds Joe

Thank You Red Bess. I should get the first shipment next week. I'll sign them and send a batch to Tall Ships Books the following week. They are taking preorders now. Glad you enjoyed Nathan Beauchamp's adventure. Fair Winds Joe

Whuzur fav thing in the whole widest world?!
King's Pyrate replied to Capt. Z's topic in Thieves Market
Well now, in me younger days it were wench'n.......now it be....... think'n bout wench'n....lol -
I think that in the Royal Navy, it would depend on the size of the ship. In most cases positions 1 thru 4 would be commissioned officers with Bosun being a warrant. In some cases of small ships Bosun may have very well been the #4 with perhaps only the Captain, First Lieutenant and a midshipman above him. In today’s US Navy, Bosun is the senior enlisted Rate. In military affairs the Bosun Mate is in charge of all equally ranked Petty Officers. Your research is very good. I would enjoy visiting your site. Please let me know when it is up again. joe@josephlosteen.com KP
-
Madam, your explaination may very well apply to a pirate ship however I assure you it is not applicable to Royal Navy ships. Try the Maritine Historical Society under Nelson's Navy. Hope this helps for Royal Navy ships KP

Morning Shipmates Please excuse my intrusion but I am so excited and wanted to share with other lovers of sea stories. Today I received the proof copy of the 2nd edition of Falcon's Revenge. The cover is so beautiful and the interior text and layout looks just great. To celebrate I am having a drawing to send the winner the signed first copy. The details are on my web site. http://www.josephlosteen.com Good Luck :) Joe
