  1. Just stumbled on this thread and am VERY interested in getting my hands on one of these buckles! I'm in the process of designing a custom baldric and have been generally unhappy with the buckles available, but these are gorgeous! Let us know when you're in production!

  2. Join the finest and most spirited buccaneer crews that ever sailed the streets of Portland! Don

your finest seafaring costume, kick up your heels to some rousing tunes and hoist a tankard in

celebration of all things piratical at the Swashbuckler’s Ball!

Rock to the music of Chervona, The Lost Highwaymen, Sam Bam Boo, and The Bilgerats &

Pyrettes. Slake your thirst at a no-host bar (featuring Kraken Rum) and fill your bellies with tasty

Caribbean food. Try your luck at winning from a treasure trove of glorious raffle prizes. Spend

your doubloons in the Pirates Marketplace, where well-known merchants from far and wide will be

selling their wondrous wares and donating a significant percentage of their proceeds to the

    cause.

General admission tickets are just $14 in advance and $18 at the door. There are also special

VIP packages available for advance purchase that include raffle tickets, food and drink scrip and

    swag bags.

All proceeds from this rollicking event will benefit Portland Pirate Festival

(www.portlandpiratefestival.com). An annual event since 2006, the Portland Pirate Festival

has earned its place as both a cultural mainstay in Portland and a popular gathering of brethren

from all shores. Alas, in the wake of Poseidon’s wrath (which besieged the 2010 Festival with

spectacular rainfall), the future of the event is in jeopardy. Hopes abound that the City of

Portland’s most swashbuckling event will stay afloat. What better way to help make that happen

than with an outrageous and entertaining evening of tunes, tastes, and treasure!

The Swashbuckler’s Ball is an evening for pirates 21 and older and is produced by the scallywags

from PDXYAR (www.pdxyar.org) and the Dread Ship Outrageous Fortune.

Tickets and additional information are available online at www.swashbucklersball.com.

    Yers in the sweet trade,

  3. I heartily accept the Quartermaster's nomination. How could I do otherwise? If chosen to serve within that esteemed group of cutthroats, thieves, rogues and miscreants known as The Order of the Leviathan, I swear to conduct said service with the solemnity and underhandedness expected of such a band of brigands.

Signed, , John Christopher Roberts, known to some as Topknot, Ship's Cooper of the once and future ship Outrageous Fortune, may she rest in peace in her watery grave...

I nominate the dread pyrate Topknot, of The Outrageous Fortune.

  4. You would throw the Beaver in my face. It will be mine again!

btw - check your email. Question pending...

I knew you hung out here, James, and was afraid I'd end up taking so much of your coin that you'd be left destitute. Greed finally got the best of me, I guess.

Alas my friend, I see the grog has finally got the better of your memory!

Need I remind you of The Golden Beaver?

Well, it's about freakin' time you got here!

What took you so long? Barnacles on the Sea Squirrel?

Hope you brought a fresh barrel!

Like Bess said: it's not a tough room to play, unless you find us sober that is!

  6. Good to hear ye' tapping, Ransom! And glad ta hear that Chainshot remains so named. Don't think I'd invented the drink by the same name at that time, but he could make it his signature libation if he so chose. Chainshot: 1 pint o' good, dark porter, with about a shot removed. Drop in 1 shot glass (glass and all) full o' Blackstrap rum. Quaff (don't chug). This be an amazingly good and dangerous drink.

So glad you finally found your way here to the Pub! I still have the card you gave me two years ago pinned to my bulletin board. Also, Chain Shot has received many compliments on his name, which you gave him at the Arms of the Sea lodge weekend. We head south for our events these days, rather than north, but we still remember the gracious offer you made of a place to stay during the Portland Pirate Festival, had we gone.

Welcome indeed, to a great pyrate! Huzzah! (And who can play a mean game of Liar's Dice)

  7. There be those at know me as the Dread Pyrate Topknot, here on the pacific coast. A pirate o' long standing (and long inseam!) that's been sorely remiss in joinin' the pub. A hearty hail to those at know me, and a warm and trusting (for now) handshake fer those as might be new friends.
