  1. YeaH!! Nothing like a growing Kit to make a Pirate Happy!

  2. Looking forward to seeing the pics when you can and thank you for posting that Rogers men in California print...I wish we knew more about the button arrangement on the short coats/jackets/waistcoats? So many are wearing them, it almost seems uniform

  3. In support of worn out clothes I present to you the following evidence... 1710 Woodes Rodgers' men. Look at the bottom of the slops/trousers on two of the sailors. A bit tattered I say. A painting by Willem Van Mieris I believe from 1718. THese are common folks and not sailors, but they wear many of the same garments - and man are these on their last leg - or pant leg. and Woodes once again in his pyratin' days... one of the sailors looks to have tattered trousers.

  5. Ivan Henry owns a successful Trading Company, got bored, and asked for a letter or marque from England to raid Spanish and French Ships. My home if it's not a sloop, it be me store.

  8. Looks like Michael Bagsley is going to make a kit for me. Thanks everyone. Callenish, Sykes was too busy to meet the Searle's deadline.

  10. Hello! I'm looking for an English Civil war era jacket in the lightest wool possible, lined in linen, and a pair of Dutch slops in linen or the lightest wool possible. I would need them by mid February. At this point I would like to see some quotes from those of you who have made or can make these items period correct and all. Unseen stitches can be done on a machine, but I would want all button holes and any visible stitches done by hand. Thanks! Please PM me....
  11. Thanks all! If time and money permit, I'm hoping to have some dutch slops, a ECW style jacket and I'm hoping to make some boot hose - yes, me sewing something! BTW - Searle's Buccaneers has a new site. www.searles-buccaneers.com - I felt bad for them not having a site anymore, had some free time, and whipped it up for them. Check it out! Michael even makes a cameo! Can't wait for the event!
  12. Gasparilla is great! A month long three parade celebration of a semi-fictional pirate! The Knight parade IMO is the better of the two parades - especially since it goes right by my house!
  13. It was a lot of fun! The Wydah exhibit was great (well except for the bucket boots and frock coats with collars).
  14. Sgt. Johnson Let me know if you need help with your site - or if I can make a new one for you. I would be happy to help you all out - gratis. Let me know.
  15. Just in time for Christmas! I just received a new shipment today. English Light Dragoon Elliot Pattern - 1 available. Lots of other things arrived last week as well. Thanks for looking! Check out Ivan Henry Trading Company
  16. Michael! I'm in! Gotta get "my sewing guy" on some correct clothing. So, what is correct for a 1660s era pirate? I know the breeches were puffier with ties, but what about the top half? Had doublets went out of style, were they in style for pirates of the time?
  17. Too funny! We have a "Pyrate Tree" as well - with a skull on top. I'll try to get some pics. Nice work OE!
  18. I have liked this drawing since i found it. Pretty certain it's early 17th Century and not Searle's time, but it's still cool! Love those hose!
  19. So now that PiP 09 is sadly over, I'm looking forward to Searles Raid - and the nice pair of riding bucket boots in my closet.... My personal research has turned up several examples of bucket boots holding on to fashion into the 1600s, even though shoes looked to be growing in popularity after the English Civil War. Anyway, my question to any 1660s clothing geeks, I mean historians.... Are leather bucket riding boots (not the pleather Jack Sparrow ones) right for the 1660s? Here is a painting I found from 1661 showing at least one dude in boots like mine. Next question, if they are okay, does anyone know of a supplier for boot hose? Thanks!
  20. Here's a few point and shoots. Enjoy! http://www.ivanhenry.com/pip2009/
