  1. I know that many of our fellow pirates live too far to attend the rally. It would be a great help if you could help spread the word about what is going on. If any of you have a facebook account, you can go to the Port Columbus Civil War Naval Museum page. There is a link posted in there with the article about the proposed budget cut. We would be much obliged if you would take the time to click on the link and let the City of Columbus know that they are foolishly proposing to force the closing of the only Civil War Naval Museum in the south. This building houses the remnants of the ironclad CSS Jackson. She was set on fire and was left to drift in the river. She sat at the bottom of the river for 90 years. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If the museum budget is cut, it will only be a matter of time before her doors are shut. Not only will we lose a great piece of American history, we will also lose the Southern Pirate Festival.

  2. Thank you so much for you kind words, Diosa. I also want to thank you for helping our... SQUIRREL... first festival be the success it was. You truly were a great asset to us. As Raven said, there was a lot of sweat, tears and blood involved. I know I accidentally stabbed my fencing partner in the leg. Looking forward to Southern Pirate Festival 2011!!!

  3. Aye, my mate, Bloody Sam Rackham and I will be attending this event. There is going to be a lot going on. The Pride Of Baltimore II sloop and the HMS Bounty are both slated to be there.

At the risk of opening another can of the same worms... and on the wrong shelf, here I go anyway...

Any Pub members heading for this event?

I have questions for any event veterans.

    Thanks

  4. I didn't get to see the cannons fired when we were there on vacation last Summer. I sure did hear them! We did get to see the ones fired at the Gathering last November. I also got a chance to meet Tiger Lee. He does some really good work. I knew about the pub crawls. I just wasn't sure when they were. I will make sure our pirate friends in St. Augustine know the next time we are coming down that way. It only took one trip to St. Augustine for it to become one of our favorite places!

  5. Oh, I am sure that when we make it down there, it will be at least for a weekend. I am going to talk to our Cap'n and see about getting a couple more from our crew to come down with us. It will be grand to sail with you and Barbary!

  6. I really wish Bloody Sam and I could have been there to see her sail into port. I know that had to be a beautiful site. sam and I will be down there sometime this summer. Maybe in August. We plan on booking a sail. And of course, we plan on going in our garb.

  7. Excellent...I will clean me pistol...

I have a question about the duck race. Even though we are volunteering there, will we be able to buy a couple ducks for the race? I want to get 4 if I can. 1 in memory of my late father in law and 1 in memory of a dear friends wife that lost her battle in January. 1 in honor of my son that beat it as a child and 1 in honor of my brother in law that is fighting cancer now.

  8. For a short time before Elvira hit the scene, we had one down this way that called himself Dead Ernest. He didn't last long. He hosted the Friday Night Frights from his coffin.

  9. My husband, Bloody Sam Rackham and I would like to announce the birth of our twin grandchildren. Alexander Robert and Emma Hope came into this world kicking and screaming on Jan 30. 2009. They were born 5 weeks early but are both doing great!
