Sutler John, it was so good to be yelling at you over Tartan Jack's phone! We're so sorry to hear about what you're going through. Please know we're all routing for you. Fair winds my friend.

Thanks for the good wishes!! I'm doing better every day.

I will never think of 'shots' the same way.

Like my "shot" glass? That's my big boy syringe!! 150 ml, the others are only 60ml

  4. Over the years I've improved greatly on my original charger design. I'm able to turn them from a single a piece of wood, no more brass inserts. I also copied a couple of different designs I found looking at different English museum pieces.

I'll still make charger sets to order.20231010_125242.jpg.f1a7e172a75db5c50437aae5badbc123.jpg

The copper soldered ones were actually being made before the wooden ones became prevalent. The Advent of the lathe made the wooden ones far easier and less expensive to produce. When I made the 1st copper ones my soldering skills were questioned as being too sloppy. But, then a photo of some survivors from a British museum showed up my work was very authentic in quality..

  5. I've been cleaning around the shop, trying to declutter the work space. I've found a few things to liquidate20231010_122345.jpg.1dd72c9f7758b894a9e4ddfb96c3de32.jpg

I have 11 of these 3" buckles, I'll let them go for $2 each + shipping.

  6. Wow, had the best visit today, had a whole bunch of pirates blow-up my phone! You scurvy bunch of bandits made my day!! The last couple of years have been a trial..I've been fighting with the cancer again, 3 surgeries since last July. 2 this year, I think we may be done for a while. Pirates had peg legs and hook hands...I'm going to get a prosthetic to help me speak clearly again. Once again thanks for making my day! Tartan Jack, Fayma, Stynky and the rest of ya from Dauphin Island!

  7. Ahoy! Sutler John is still around, I'm doing custom work. Check out my New Stuff thread, there's some pics of what I do, prices are old, but I haven't gone insane. No website at the moment. But a message will get my attention.

Do you have a store front/website?

Not anymore, just custom stuff these days. Contact me and we can work it out.

Most of the stuff I make can be found by scrolling through this thread

  9. I'm back, like a bad penny...

After another bout with big "C" I've emerged victorious!

Missing a few more pieces, so I'm no longer a complete idiot.

I'm still here making leather stuff

Baldrics, Whydah Boxes, chargers (improved with a few more years experience)belts and such.

  10. I used to use a waterproofer called Preservo, specifically for canvas ..... It's parafin dissolved in mineral spirits. I found it at a sign shop that made awnings and such. I would check at a marina that handles sailboat canvas. It came in gallon cans and you paint it on and give time for the mineral spirits to evaporate. It kinda smells like mineral sprits forever but it's not unbearable and it is a technique that goes back quite a long time.

  11. Wow it's been awhile since I posted anything here been busy as can be.

I came across some really nice boots yesterday. They are white "Storm Trooper" boots, they can be dyed black for our uses.

These are quite servicable shoes and come from the prop dept surplus bin.

I have 2 pair, a 12-1/2 wide and an 11. There are also 2 pair of short "bootees" in black with elastic side panels "tie fighter pilot" shoes or Steam Punk Victorian Era Civilian shoes sizes 12 & 12-1/2 both wide

I'll take $50.00 a pair and pay the shipping. I'll post photos if any interest.
