  1. I would like to nominate my fine captain, Charity Ann Rackham, notorious leader of the Jade Dragon Pirates up here on the West Coast of Canada (http://www.jadedragonpirates.com). She has led us through many a perilous adventure over the past 5 years, appearing at parades and events, helping charities, entertaining kiddies of all ages, and bringing the BC Renaissance Festival to fruition. Her exploits carry back even further back in her homeport of Toronto, where she spent many a year face-painting, and entertaining the masses through many ventures including working as a character for Paramount events. It would be grand to have such a fine Lady Pirate inducted into the Order, and a Canadian one at that!

    I second this nomination!

  2. wine barrels are all over the place here in california, they can only legally use a wine or whiskey barrel once for commercial purposes.Y ou might see what is nearest to you. they are infinately cheaper than new and the wine barrels are top quality in construction.

Well, were we port here is so far from any winery's. I think there is one, way up above Seattle, Columbia Winery, I think. But to get there would be a 6 or 7 hour drive. I may email them to see if they have them. It would have to be cheap enough to afford the drive there.

Thanks fer ye reply! Points me heading in the right direction anyway!

  3. Avast! me hearty!

I have sat here and read this whole thread in total amazement of the journey your 'cove' has taken...it is a fabulous cove. Never have seen one done so right. The details that you have added are just wonderful! You have Disneyland beat! Hope you have many, many years of fun enjoying it! When my kids move out in a couple of years, I hope to change my place into a pirate ship. My kids hate the pirate stuff. So I am going to wait till then. Then watch out! I have been collecting for about a year now. Don't know if I will ever get it as good as yours is, but I am looking forward to doing it.

    Bravo! ((standing ovation))

  4. Stressed...with the weather, my husband's surgery (nothing serious, just his shoulder), me not being able to get to work, just barely enough money to get me boys something for Christmas and just plain tired...I will be glad when the holiday season is over. It has been so bad that I am just finally getting the tree up tomorrow. Something I have always done right after Thanksgiving. Just don't have the gumption this year. Even ask me kids if it was a big deal to them if we didn't put up any decorations this year...but it was to my youngest and so I am going to kick myself into gear and do it for him. Put on my happy face and make it right for everyone...so I am tired...so tired...needs me a blanket and my bed till winter is over.

    Hester,

Have you tried some subligual B12. It works to get the iron in your blood to work for you better. Pumps up your blood. I was anemic till I got through to meno...you know...and it really helped me. It is the one you put under your tongue so you absorb it better. Take care...not a fun thing...

  5. 1) One thing you ate today...Fritos

    2) One thing you saw today (big or small)... Me money slipping through me fingers as I went Christmas shop'n.

    3) Name of a person you spoke to...Me boss (let him know we couldn't open the store due to snow)

    4) Name of a person you thought of but didn't see...Me sister, Marcia

  6. :::nods;::: I agree with ye there, Maggie. I hate ice as well. Don't mind th' snow, and sometimes th' cold, but it's the nasty ice that bothers me.

Suppose t' be gettin' some icy weather on thursday and/or friday as well. NOT looking forward to that.

Likewis, Maggie. Stay warm AND safe.

It's been one snow event after another. Spooks the hell out of me cause the north is getting pounded moreso than here in Iowa. Worries me cause it's the type of weather that happens before the spring thaw when there's more rain.... hence, FLOODS. Floods BAD. Very, very bad.

    Lady B

Avast, Lady B! We woke up to 3 inches this morning and then another 2inches later today...total there be 5 bloody inches on the ground! More to come tomorrow. Me hubby and I ran to get some shopping done whilest it was ok to drive...I wasn't going to wait till tomorrow to do it and then get stuck. I haven't seen this kind of snow here on the peninsula in the 5 years I have lived here. From what the old one's tell us, that grew up around here, they say it used to do this alot. Blast! I have had to keep my store closed today and probably till we can get up there. I may have to buy some chains for the first time...

A white Christmas is on the horizon, which would be a first for me.

Merry Christmas t' ye all! ;)

  7. Aye! We got snow here also at the beach! Very pretty to see the sand dunes covered in the stuff. We only get it two or three times a year, but that is enough for me. Right now it is ice. We are suppose to get some more on Thursday. My biggest problem is that I don't like to drive in it. To get to work, I have to drive on a little windy road with drop offs at every turn. The road to Cape Disappointment never sees sunlight, so it stays icy for days. Makes for a slow and nervous ride. I think I went about 15 mph all the way! LOL! Me knuckles turning white, along with me face!

But it is pretty. That is the only good thing I have to say about it.

    Stay warm everyone!

  8. Aye!  Welcome!  I be new here also.

Love your art!  My 14 year old son draws stuff like this...dragons, elves, pirates, anything.  He is really talented.  I hope he keeps it up and is able to make some coin with it.

Keep up the good work and yer sails full!

  9. Well, tis be a subject that I can join in...

The best pirate movie for this wench is "Cutthroat Island" (1995) with Geena Davis.  I just love how tough she is and determined.  Always love to see women in those roles.  Unfortunately it didn't get alot of PR so it didn't do well at the box office.  I don't know how many times I have watched this movie, but everytime I do, I feel refreshed and know that I have enjoyed it again.

I really like any movie with pirates in them.  ARRRR! ;)

  10. How much for the frock and waist coat?  Email me at bkzalley@yahoo. com

    adultblackshirtwaistcoatcoat.jpg

For the ladies, there is a matching petticoat that goes with this to make a traveling habit or a mourning outfit.

    Size 20 - 24 for women or 50+ chest/XL+ for men.

  11. Not so good news................

I received a communique from Hank this afternoon telling us that the November camp has had to be postponed....just not enough people signed up this go-round. There will be another planned soon but will be in the new year....

I will keep everybody up on when it is so if you are of a mind to make the trip you will have plenty of time.

In the mean time if anybody is in Seattle on the last Sunday of any given month let me know.....The Last Sunday Shanty Singers would love to have you join us for good song, conversation, RUM (yes this is an adult sing) and just plain alot of fun...next one is this coming Sunday. I will be hosting so if you are going to be around let me know and I will get you directions.....

    dR.;

Avast!  That be terrible news!  Be'in it is so close to Xmas may have had somethin' to do with it.  Thanks for keep'n us informed anyway.

BTW, I went to a Sea Shanty class here at Fort Columbia last Saturday.  It was so much fun!  Our instructors were: David LoVine (Shantyman for the Lady Washington.  He is awesome!), Bert and Di Meyer(Budd Bay Buccaneers), Matthew Moeller(The Whateverly Brothers), Phillip Morgan(the Cutters), and Dan Roberts(The Whateverly Brothers).  Also the songwriter, Mary Garvey.  She is a member of the original Seattle Song Circle.

Here in our area, they have a sea shanty sing the last Monday of every month (except Nov. and Dec.) in Astoria, OR. at the Rogue.

One more thing, please keep Di Meyer in your prayers.  She has breast cancer and though is doing well, is going through cemo right now.  She is such a wonderful singer and actor and I just want her to get all the mojo that she can.

    Fair winds to all!

  12. Ye have until November 1st to register fer the last one. I would love to be going, but me treasure has run dry. ;)

I met Hank when he performed here at the Cape Disappointment state park with the Constellation Crew. I fell in love with his voice and the songs. What a pleasure it be to talk to him. He is funny and witty and such a great singer, songwriter. I bought all his CD's. This camp is something I am saving for, for next summer. I won't be miss'n this again!

  13. I think I have found a great place here. Been dyen' fer some friendly pirate chat to get the ol' pirate juices flowin'. I may be new to this here ship, but I will be stayin' with her anyway she sails. Thanks Stynky for keepin' her from sinkin'! I used to run a message board a few years ago, so if ye be needin' any help, let me know. :D
