madPete
As this PIP rookie is flying in and camping, I'm trying to travel light as possible (with airline baggage restrictions/charges and all). Am I safe assuming I can find a pair of trees for a hammock? me wedge tent will go over the hammock between the trees which also eliminates needed poles. else aye needs to plan a cot or some blowup contraption as me back don't take kindly to the ground. Looking at photos from previous events, looks like plenty o trees. But with the restriction on number of campers, and the area we will be in this year, will this be a problem? Thanks for your opinion here mates... madPete Aye... Plunder Awaits!

Last year, they requested that hammocks be taken down during the day. I'm assuming that will apply for this year as well. Last year, they requested that hammocks be taken down during the day. I'm assuming that will apply for this year as well. last year there was some requests NOT to use hammocks...and was tuned down to take down durring the day...because of NEW plantings...and i know there were discussions/controversy about removing remainder of the trees and planting more indigenous species....also didnt want the locals and/or tourists wanting to put up hammocks as well(which are forbidden most days)..... so....bring one(i am as well)...but be advised that sleeping on some tuffted up coral rocks maybe the option...!?!?! Mission
M.A.d'Dogge's got a point. Those with hammocks should probably keep in mind that the rules could be more strictly enforced this year. Perhaps Sterling or Fayma might have some insight? (Hey you guys want me to split the hammock discussion into it's own topic?) Capt. Sterling
Yes please and will contact Fayma pronto. And aye, fwiw, they did allow them for sleeping last year but they had to come down during the day...with the new park staff, we do need a "ruling" on this for this year... will let you all know as soon as I hear. madPete
Sorry to create a stir on this subject. In the long run we are all more prepared though. Thanks for the replies, look forward to hearing word from the park services. madPete Aye... Plunder Awaits!
Capt. Sterling
Oh not a stir, tis a good question actually... Mission
Yeah. For every person asking, there are usually several who are not (not to mention a bunch who hadn't thought to ask.) Silkie McDonough
For those who are interested the "Sealchies Hide" & the picnic tables therein are always available once everyone goes to bed. No place for hammocks but shelter from the rain (if there is any).
Capt. Sterling
Heard from Fayma, she is looking into this and will get back on it as soon as possible "I being shot through the left cheek, the bullet striking away great part of my upper jaw, and several teeth which dropt down the deck where I fell... Capt. Sterling
Patrick I seem to recall the one morning I looked out my tent, your hammock was already down...on the ground... with you still in it... Grey Fox
You could try lashing together some bamboo poles together into a X shape with the bottom of the X wider and then attach some lines which could be staked into the ground or if sand bury a large rock with anchoring lines attached to hold your support up with your hammock suspended between. Grey Fox The Grey Fox is only one of the aliases known for this dangerous pirate. A direct descendant of the most successful Pirate of the Caribbean Captain Henry Morgan. He is a master of the sword and dagger. He's also proficient with the throwing axe and bullwhip. As Boson he's in charge of piping the Captains orders to the crew. Disobey his orders and feel the wrath of his whip across your back. An expert sailor he learned to sail at a very young age off Lewes, Delaware. He's skilled with the marlinspike and knows how to tie knots including the hangmans noose He's been sighted in the Bahamas, Bermuda and Key West. Most recently he was seen in the town of Marcus Hook in the company of that scallywag Blackbeard and his crew.
Dutchman
oh how did i miss this thread. being one of four witness' to this event, it went something like this. "stagger, stagger, wobble, weave- ahhhh" <silence> the slight creak and snap of a line and then "THUD" i swear he never stirred, but he was snoring so we knew he was ok.
