Capt. Sterling
Ahoy folks... we will be needing tent footprints for setting up at PiP this year due to the number of folks attending. IF you are a member of a crew, such as The Archangel or The Mercury, you will need to get these measurements to those in charge of your group. We need to make sure that everyone coming will have a space allotted to them for the event. The measurements or the space needed to contain a certain crew will be forwarded to the event organizers in order to coordinate the space. You may arrange your tents as you please within the space given to you. So start measuring! Thank ye! This weekend, folks should be measuring off the areas on the beaches and more information will be forthcoming. Edited September 2, 2009 by Capt. Silkie McDonough
Anybody out there have a tent I could borrow for PiP? I don't know that the two trees I used last year will still be there this year.

hurricane
Ahoy Captain! Are the dimensions to include just the tent square footage, or the tent plus required staking space? As you well know, some tents use different staking strategies that can affect the footprint of individual camps. :) -- Hurricane -- Hurricane ______________________________________________________________________ http://piratesofthecoast.com/images/pyracy-logo1.jpg Captain of The Pyrates of the Coast Author of "Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Year Before the Mast" (Published in Fall 2011) Scurrilous Rogue Stirrer of Pots Fomenter of Mutiny Bon Vivant & Roustabout Part-time Carnival Barker Certified Ex-Wife Collector Experienced Drinking Companion "I was screwed. Capt. Sterling
I would think that should obviously be included in the footprint as that is part of the tent... but to those who are new at this... remember to include your rope perimeter in the footprint... thank ye. michaelsbagley
I don't want to stir anything up here, and this question comes from just curiousity... But what is the urgency here? Registration forms haven't even been released yet, and to me that seems like the logical place for this information to get submitted.
Raphael Misson
You know, that sort of makes sense. That way the event organizers could figure out how much space to allot to all the members of crews and not just the folks on this forum. Plus most of the folks who send in the form are likely to be coming whereas some people may submit space requirements now and then not be able to show up come November. hurricane
I understand that the footprints of the various camps need to be figured out, but as with most crewes, our numbers continue to change as people figure out their vacations, especially as they get new jobs after being laid off during the recession. So, while I have five of our tents figured out, others are still trying to commit or confirm. That takes some time. Can we get a reasonable drop dead date on this? Such as Oct. 1? Which is still roughly two months out? Then we can all lock in our numbers and information without having to do a lot of adds and drops as the date nears and people inevitably (it seems) change their plans at the last minute. Even now I see a lot of regulars who don't know if they can make it or not. -- Hurricane -- Hurricane ______________________________________________________________________ http://piratesofthecoast.com/images/pyracy-logo1.jpg Captain of The Pyrates of the Coast Author of "Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Year Before the Mast" (Published in Fall 2011) Scurrilous Rogue Stirrer of Pots Fomenter of Mutiny Bon Vivant & Roustabout Part-time Carnival Barker Certified Ex-Wife Collector Experienced Drinking Companion "I was screwed. Capt. Sterling
The sense of urgency comes from that fact that there is a limited amount of space available for setting up the camps. Unfortunately we do not have the same amount of space that we did last year, due to some new plantings. The event organizers want to know crew footprints as soon as possible, in order to guarantee spots for those that are planning on camping. Again, due to size, this is not going to be a camp where ever you please event. As this is the first time they have needed to do this, they would like to get a jump on it and avoid chaos at the last minute... IF we do in fact reach our limit of 150 "campers" then the organizers need to be able to assign spaces and arrange a waiting list for them that decided to wait until the very last minute. Hurricane I will find out what their deadline is... Edited September 8, 2009 by Capt. I will not know until mid to late October as to whether I am coming or not. I'm not trying to kick up a storm here, but seriously, is not a November 1st date reasonable enough? This gives people an extra month to get "in", and prevents a fair number of people from exclusion just because their job/real life/other circumstances prevents them being able to commit until the later date. Shouldn't a whole month be plenty of time to do space allocation? Quite honestly, the fact that I have yet to hear a single peep from "official" sources doesn't sit well with me. If Spike and the Bone Islanders want this, shouldn't they be asking? I know those who have spoken up are trying to help, and are well intentioned, but until I hear from an "official source" what is what and what the deadline is, the footprint thing is moot to me. Capt. Fayma Callahan
I was hoping to have a chance to put all of the information together into a single post this week, but I will start here. I have been named by the Bone Island Buccaneers as one of the event organizers in the role of "Reenactor Liason". I, in such capacity as it is, asked that the captains/crewe representatives start to get together the footprints for our camp this year. It was done "off-pub" as it were, and then Captain Sterling offered to put the post up, to assist me. There was also a discussion from Spikes posting that mentioned it as well, so it is not entirely new. Please understand that we know that people may not be able to be "exact" at this time, but if we are going to have a "space problem" and need to go to the Fort to ask for more, we need to do this soon. I will be posting a separate thread, with all the forms needed, as well as area maps showing the designated camping that we have been given to date. The survey only occurred on Saturday, and I have yet to finish the overlay map. We don't mean to make this the "end" of registration for footprints, only a place to start to figure out how to fit everyone in. I will post more complete information very soon. We want to be more organized than in year's past, so that we can make a positive impression to the new park staff, as well as getting what we need to have a successful festival. In order to do this, we need everyone's help in the preparation. If there are any questions, please contact me at either my email: faymacallahan@aol.com or by phone at (812) 290-6056. You can also pm me, but I found that the box gets full fast! Animal
Put me down for a 10' square area in the buccaneer encampment. Better to have a place reserved in case I can make it thannot have one at all. I'll notify closer if I can't make it for sure and fee up the area. Animal Buccaneer - Services to the highest bidder!!!
