ok... dread has a question. as i get my pyrate garb together, do research and just go plain pyratical i looked up some ren-faires to learn more about them as well... most have weapon regulations. when it comes to cutlass, sabres, swords and the like i read: must be "peace-tied". so, is there a certain way that this is done? is a certain knot expected to be used? any info on this will be greatly appreciated. translation: lookin' to educate meself on this peace-tyin' thing, wouldnt want to visit a town and not be law-biding... right?

Trying to decide which pistol I want to order. English Lock: http://www.loyalistarms.freeservers.com/en...tol1615-60.html Dog lock: Perfect for the period. I’m just not sold on the look of the handle or the butt cap? http://www.loyalistarms.freeservers.com/do...oglokpistl.html Dragoon: This is what I always leaned toward when I thought of a flintlock pistol. Maybe add a clip?? http://www.loyalistarms.freeservers.com/br...ragoon1730.html Early Brit sea Pistol: They say it’s essentially the same as the Dragoon. It has a clip already. Slightly curved handle? http://www.loyalistarms.freeservers.com/br...vicepistol.html I’m wondering if a doglock could be put on the…

I know this was talked about a while back but I cannot find the post. I have a friend who stumbled across two swords left in a field by her house. They are badly rusted. What can she do to restore them if any?

"Loyalist Arms is pleased to introduce our new English Lock Muskets and early Doglock Muskets. They cover a period of 1610 to about 1675. These muskets fit in nicely with our matchlock and other pirate period arms. These two are very new products so they are not yet listed on our site. We can however send info. to those interested. We are constantly trying to accommodate the pirate reenactors out there. We are looking for some feedback on these new arms. Hope to be of assistance in the future. Fair Winds to all. Blair Higgins, president. LA&R."

OKIEDOAKIE THEN. . . . We're down to the last few weeks till the Pyrates Way premiere issue heads to the printer (August 31 is the drop-deadline). It's filled with a ton of beautiful, colorful, and informative items pyratical all created in a very tongue-n-cheek, "Margaritaville" fashion. It's the very best offering for pirate enthusiasts as it shows off their festivals and reenactments with full-color photos. I think everyone will love the magazine! I know I do. . .but I'm just a tad biased! Anyway. . . we still have a few pages of ads to fill prior to the print date, so if you or some piratical/boating/leatherworking/seafaring merchant needs some publicity, we'd lo…

I love them little gold coins. They're glint makes me want to stack them in piles and count them over and over and over again. Then I want to form a big pile and just roll around in them, sprinkling little sacajaweas over me body. but they've been getting dull. does anybody know how to put the glint back in a gold dollar?

Dear Ladies and gents, I'm new to this site,a nd I got to say it's awesome. Well, the question is, does anyone know of any stoes in Europe, preferably England or Germany ( I'm from Denmark myself), that sells pirate clothing? It is going to be used for Liveroleplaying, so the quality should be the same as for reenactment. Also US based stores that ships to Europe are welcome. Thanks in advance.

I've heard they were actually such an important item, it was even a targeted item to be lifted? Any oponions? I've always thought them as way too dandy. Remember Tim Roth's character Archie in Rob Roy? Whata bastard! I was almost thinking about having one to flop about, while I'm half in the bag (In character that is) But wasn't the comodore also wearing one in POTC2 during the barfight? Any thoughts? Anyone ever wear one?? Rats Actually I probably should have posted this on the Captain Twill line. Mayhaps a moderator can bump it???

Hi all, I've been promising you guys a new website with clothing on it for some time. This summer has just been so busy (which is never bad for business!) that I haven't got the new website up yet. But I thought I'd give you all a preview of some of the things that will be available. The early 1700s Frock Coat: The sailor's shirt and Slop Contract Breeches: The Royal Navy Slop Contract Jacket: Details available upon request at historian [at] reconstructinghistory [dot] com

My sister got it into her head a few years ago that she wanted a tricorn for her birthday. Me, like a complete moron, told her I'd get one for her. Despite all my hopes of her forgetting this, she's still determined to get a tricorn for her birthday (which is four days away). However, not being much of a tricorn-savvy shopper, I'm a little clueless as to what I should be purchasing. So, can anyone point me to someplace online where I can get my hands on a tricorn that's under thirty dollars, but is of a reasonable quality? It doesn't have to be replete with shiny dingly-bobs - even a plain one would be just fine, just so long as it's durable enough to stand up to a f…

Ok, now I know I already started a post about when I got my 1st shippment from Fugawee. I ordered the Franklin and the Concord and they were both too big, so I sent them back and then they were just a bit too tight. Let's face it folks, unless you send em a cut out, your just geussing. But after the second shippment being too tight, I explained I had an event and they said they would simply send another TWO pairs of each so I could return the two I didn't want at my leasure. Liz at Fugawee, said she just wanted me to have what I needed for my event... That's what I call customer service folks! They didn't even charge me for shipping, only for a pair of socks I want…

You can see a picture of it here, whatever it is. At 2 liters capacity it's just the perfect size, big enough to actually use, small enough to carry easily. It's about the size of an American football with the ends knocked off. I bought it partly so I could have my own barrel (or cask or keg -- just what do you call a barrel this tiny anyway?) The secondary reason I got it was so I could carry my "rum" in something other than a bottle, sort of like having a pyratical canteen. I have a coupla questions regarding how I can "dress it up" without severely impairing the authenticity of the thing. Was there a common way to attach a shoulder strap of some sort to a barrel to a…

'oy Mates, I ahve long been kicking about the idea of a fleet of mini-pirate ships... At 13' in length, it is large enough for a Pyrate Pair to actually sail, and small enough to trail behind even the smallest car. Well, I've gone a head and done it... I have gone into a limited production of these little ships and I am looking forward to bringing one down to Paradise with be this November. I am offering my fellow crew members of this forum an opportunity to view the blog relating to the constuction of the first prototype... http://360.yahoo.com/blacksealcaptain I am nearly finished with hull assembly after which I will go back and adjust my templates and cut files…

So on to what i'm looking for and the challenge.... I'm looking to aquire me first frock coat... Now i like the male version over the female of kass's patterns. I am more in need of a short frock coat with a nice embelished kind of pleating in the back and unlike a mans coat i'd like it to "hug" more. As for materia…

If you're not familiar with my story line in Port Royal. A certain scoundrel carries an unsightly gentleman's sword. Any ideas for a very basic, late ren, rapier or hanger, which could be "weathered". Easy on the$$ if possible? Rats
