Ahoy Stynky... getting this on the phone whilst trying to access the pub... " Fatal error: call to undefined method skin _ipchat_3:chatMobileLink() . . ./iupcugzxz etc, etc, etc. . . is this something I need to correct on the phone... or is it on the pub's end? Ahoy Shipmates, A couple days ago, on January 20th - the company that hosts our Pyracy.com web and email servers had a security breach. Unauthorized activity was detected in one of the company databases and immediately shut down. No one's email, user data, or personal information was accessed. However it's strongly advised that if you have an @pyracy.com email account, that you have your email password changed. It appears the Pub has had a bit of a hick-up - our anti-spam flags have been set too severe and a large percent of our new registrants have gotten deleted before they could get approved. So if you have trouble becoming a registered user – please re-register.

The only log in option I can find is to use facebook. To get an option that allows me to use my regular login information I need to try to do something forbidden to nonmembers, like view a profile. Is this an intentional upgrade to push folks toward using facebook?

Ok, the forum has undergone some changes and I keep trying to answer the question about how to post photos so I figured it was best to just create a topic for it so I can point people to this instead of repeating myself. There are 2 photo-related things people want to do: A ) Change their avatar photo and B ) Insert photos into their posts. A ) Changing Your Avatar 1. In the ( old ) scheme of things, we use to be able to have a profile picture, that displayed in profile and a user avatar image that displayed when making posts. The recent software upgrade seems to have broken this - and I'm sorry to say I don't see an easy fix. In any case - it appears our user avatars and profile pictures are one in the same now.

Stynky has done a really good job of keeping the forum software up-to-date. The folks behind the software have a user group which comes up with cool new ideas that get added whenever the software is updated, but that aren't explained to us plebians. I happened to find this one by accident, and it's worth sharing: You'll find it on every forum index page (including 'View New Content' and 'Recent Postings' as I've shown here). It allows you to see a brief preview of the first post on the forum index pages so that you don't actually have to go into the post to view it and then back out again to get to the forum index page again. I was playing around with the skin editor...without permission or anything... and I accidentally changed the forum colors to the skin I created. I can't quite figure out how to change it back, but I sort of like the new one. (But then, I would.) Anyhow, I don't know if Stynky will keep it or not, but it was sort of fun to play with. (As you may have noticed, I am a fan of the old colors - the browns we had before we upgraded the first time. I did hate that dark colored woody background we used to have, but the browns are piratey IMO. Blue is Facebooky.)

I was just thinking that it is annoying that the events forum contains all the old topics and requires a new topic for the same event each year. It would be cool if there was a sort of uber-post which is ALWAYS at the top of an event thread, no matter what page of the thread you were on. This should contain the bare-bone basics (and not much else): Where (City, State & encompassing location - the park, pier, fort or whatever) When (Event Times and Days) What (A single paragraph explaining the concept of the event) Who (A contact person, pm, phone number or whatever) Web-site URL (if such exists) Facebook Page (for one often exists these days) I have …

I would very much like to move or remove the Facebook Like/Unlike link on the upper right hand of the home page. I would rather see "Recent Topics Added" followed by "Recent Status Updates". i tried clicking on the x to remove it but that x closes all of the right side bar. I tried clicking on "Like" to get rid of it but the FB like is STILL there. Any idea how to remove/move it? Why isn't there a minus side to shrink that part of the right side bar like there is for the other ones over there.

A little over a year ago there must have been a gap in security and someone got in and posted comments on a bunch of photos in the gallery that were filled with SPAM links. The gap has been closed, but the comments are still there. They look like this: On the plus side, these links are only possible to see if you actually happen to be looking at the photo. On the minus side, they're just that much more SPAM. So if you happen to be looking at the photo gallery and you see such, please click on the 'Report' button and we'll go in and delete them. For the past week I have had trouble moving from one thread to another, sometimes I have to go to the history and click on the links I have already been to in order to exit the one I'm in. If I use the "back" arrow it takes two or three clicks to get out of a thread and the google address comes up in between one thread and the next. Is this in my computer or is there something going on with the pub that would make this happen? Thanx! Bo

The Pub has a new Image Gallery System that's been rewritten from the ground up. I lost my internet connection during the install/upgrade process, which promptly took down the Gallery and the Pub along with it - that was a couple of days ago. Once I my internet connection was restored, it was trivial getting the Pub back up and running - however the Gallery was crippled and offline. Yesterday evening I was finally able to the Gallery back on line (with the help of Jason), but that's as far as I've gotten. I'm sure there's plenty to do from an Administrative stand point - ropes to pull, features to setup and activate, people to throw overboard. I'll be working on doin…

is there a way to put a topic on here for people to stay away from poor business traders who screw ya out of things, ie -crafts,clothing,weapons ect related to 18th century pirate goods? so other re enactors dont get dont get ripped off. it seems like i wasnt the only person to get hit by this business-stay away from certain business fellow pirates.

when I'm out and about I like to check in with the pub on my iphone. Unfortunately, this site seems to do this auto-dectect thing and defaults to a "lo-fi" format when it senses I'm using a mobile device. Many websites do this but they usually provide an option to switch to the full version of the site. I can find no such option when viewing the pub on my iphone. The end result is I get absolutely no graphics and many features return the error, "can't do this with a lo-fi theme". The funny thing is, when I pull up the pub on my LG phone, it doesn't do the auto-detect for mobile and gives me the full site.

After stepping thru the instructions with Cascabel - I realize that these instructions are severely out of date. Hopefully all will be remedied and things will become a bit more intuitive after this week's software upgrade. . . . and um, someone like Mission and Brig write a new tutorial.

I just created/setup a new Facebook App for the Pub. It's suppose to integrate your Pyracy.com and Facebook login. Users should be able to sync their Pyracy.com avatars & Facebook profile pictures and broadcast their status. Pre-existing users should also be able to associate their accounts through a settings page. Please give it a try and let me know how well (or if) it works.

in the pub, twill, way to a pirates heart etc, in the extream right hand colum where you usually see the last post to a topic thread, there is some strange stuff that shouldn't be there, some 'Iressa", or something? When you click it, it takes you to an error page, what is up with that? One section says ""iressa clinical trials | ir..""
