    Elissa Day Sails
    April 5 and April 6
    10AM -4PM
ABOUT THE 1877 TALL SHIP ELISSA
Galveston Historical Foundation brought ELISSA, an 1877 square-rigged iron barque, from a scrapyard in Piraeus Harbor, Greece to Galveston to begin restoration work in 1978. By 1982, GHF staff and volunteers completed restoration and transformed this rare, historic vessel into a floating museum that would actively sail. Today, the 1877 Tall Ship ELISSA is one of only three ships of her kind in the world to still actively sail and welcomes over 40,000 visitors annually. She also serves as the Official Tall Ship of Texas, a National Historic Landmark, and a symbol of the Gulf Coast’s historic beginnings as a seaport and active waterfront. The 1877 ELISSA, a Tall Ship for Texas, welcomes visitors at the Galveston Historic Seaport. Experience Galveston’s maritime history daily.

    Easter LaPOP festival
    10 am-6 pm April 5,6,7 2024
    Open rain or shine
Travel back to the time of mythical gods, shipwrecked lovers, and the ethereal women whom all sailors both fear and adore: the Sirens. Straight from the depths of the sea, Leucosia, Legeia, and Raidne bring you a show filled with drumming, dancing, and all-original music. Their songs will hypnotize you and their stories will touch your hearts, but hold on to your souls, or you might find you've lost them to the hands of the Sirens.

From Jennifer at History Museum of Mobile: I just wanted to let you know that this year’s Colonial Day at Fort Condé will take place on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. We would love to have you all participate at the event this year if you are able. We provide lunch and refreshments to everyone who participates. In addition to the people and organizations that usually set up educational booths at the event, we also need Colonial and Native American Re-enactors both male and female that do impressions from 1700-1813. (French, British, Spanish, African, Choctaw, Creek, War of 1812, American, Civilian, Pirate, etc.) This one-day event is attended by over 1000 school children each year. Please call me at 251-301-0270 or email me at theeckj@historymuseumofmobile.com if you are interested in participating or if you have any questions. If you know of other local or visiting re-enactors that would be interested, please have them contact me. For those of you who represent organizations that set up educational booths at the event, we will be contacting you in the next few weeks to see if you are able to participate this year. https://www.historymuseumofmobile.com/colonial-fort-conde/
