Oh...lovely work there Mad Mary!

Nice details too!  Is that 'faggitting' (sp?) I see?  How much more would that be?

Yes, though I have now seen it spelled 3 different ways! Not sure of the spelling myself, I used fagot, as spelled here: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/fagot stitch

The stitching would be $15 additional.

My apologies for the delay. I am only on the Pub once or twice a day at present.

Blackwork considerably predates GAoP, and had lost popularity by the 17th century. I personally have not seen any English, French or Dutch portraits from GAoP which have shown blackwork of any kind.

Should your friend come across any examples, I would be interested in seeing them.

That is one of the most beautiful shirts I have ever seen, Mary! And the buttons! The buttons are magnificent!

I don't think my friend has any historical proof that 'black work' was still about in the mid 1600s/early 1700s.

I just think she likes the look.

Perhaps its just a float over of her days doing Queen Elizabeth at RenFaire.
