What's your favorite smell???

Recommended Posts

Lady B brought up a good point regarding scent to wear when at an event.

There is a scent that I am very fond of which is made by a woman in Upstate New York. The company is called "Hill Woman" and the scent is called ‘Huntress’. Very nice.

and just a note on wearing scents..

make sure you wear it as a fragrance and NOT a marinade. :)

My herb garden after a quick summer shower.

Sheets that have been hung in the sun to dry, not put in a dryer.

A freshly cut section of lime - ready to plop into my G&T

Yeah - I LOVE the smell of laundry hung out to dry. And anywhere with plants after the first rain in a long time. And really fresh shitake mushrooms cooking in butter, my herb bread right out of the oven, sandalwood, the smell of spices when stepping into an Indian grocery - that's just what comes to mind right now.

Except for sandalwood, I second all of those (especially mushrooms (and onions) cooking in butter. Morels...mmmmmm...).

(I won't even tell you what the scent of sandalwood reminds me of - it's a mental association that would make little sense to anyone else.)

That Indian store reference reminds me of something else...have you ever stepped into an old-fashioned general store? The type with well-worn creaky tongue-and-groove wood floors and glass jars filled with candy? I can smell it right now. (But I sure can't describe the scent.)

Yeah, my Grandfather used to take me to a store like that and buy me a cream soda.

The smell of my grandparents old house in Michigan. I can't describe the scent, it was a mix of everything from old wood, dust, the beach & the old man smelling soap my grandfather kept in his bathroom cabinet. It reminds me of summers spent trying to get the "good" radio stations from across the lake.

The way a coffeehouse smells. It's not like coffee fully, there is a bit of the burning smell from the beans being roasted.

Wet wool sweaters. It must remind me of something becuase really, it's not that great of a scent!

The intoxicating aroma of a used book store, or an old library.

Art-deco movie theatre, with the scent of fresh popcorn overwhelming the faint mustiness of the antique upholstery.

(I hate modern "Cineplexes", which smell of Nachos and carpet glue.)
