Pirates of the Caribbean- Curse of the Black Pearl, released ten years ago today, and the world has never been the same!

Yours, &c.

Try these for starters- "A General History of the Pyrates" edited by Manuel Schonhorn, "Captured by Pirates" by John Richard Stephens, and "The Buccaneers of America" by Alexander Exquemelin.

And it is rememberances like these which mark the ineffable passage of time. And of course remind me that HOLY SHIT WE'RE ALL DYING!

I'd rather think of it as the process of oxidation. ;)

"New York... New York..." (Actual photo of melting Brain Gremlin prop.)

Mycroft: "My brother has the brain of a scientist or a philosopher, yet he elects to be a detective. What might we deduce about his heart?"

John: "I don't know."

Mycroft: "Neither do I. But initially he wanted to be a pirate."
