The M&S and the Brothers are very nice, quite sweet and waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too easy to drink especially at 7.3% and 6% respectively.

Grymm, I am so glad you piped up and mentioned that there is a well established name for "pear cider" already! Every time I saw a post about it under that name a part of my brain was going "but, but, but..., it's perry!"

I understand it is more difficult to make than hard cider is from apples because it has different organisms that make it alcoholic, and it can go "off" more easily. It is delightful stuff, well worth whatever extra effort goes into it!

Reenactor Gareth Pugh ordered me some of that in a pub in Wales. Fine stuff.

Mycroft: "My brother has the brain of a scientist or a philosopher, yet he elects to be a detective. What might we deduce about his heart?"

John: "I don't know."

Mycroft: "Neither do I. But initially he wanted to be a pirate."

Sorry Grymm and Jen. As a foolish colonist I used the name it is called on this side of the ocean. I knew of "perry" and that it had a long history. Where I live it is marketed as "pear cider", which is old since cider is apple.

Jib,

No worries. As Grymm pointed out, it's the marketing folks who have created the name difference/confusion, as if people were too dumb to figure it out. Someone is missing out on a great marketing campaign for it as perry, really.
