Silverton, Oregon

Capt. William Bones

Then he rapped on the door with a bit of stick like a handspike that he carried, and when my father appeared, called roughly for a glass of rum. This, when it was brought to him, he drank slowly, like a connoisseur, lingering on the taste, and still looking about him at the cliffs and up at our signboard.

"This is a handy cove," says he, at length; " and a pleasant sittyated grog-shop. Much company, mate?"

My father told him no, very little company, the more was the pity.

"Well, then," said he, "this is the berth for me."

I'm was born and raised in Ohio, moved to the warmer waters of the pamlico river in Washington, NC for about 10 years, after 6 hurricanes (and i don't mean the drink or our swashbuckling friend) in 5 years I moved to Key West and I've been here for 3 years.

More Info than you wanted.

'Nuff said.

Boulder Creek CA... a tiny little town in the redwood forests of the Santa Cruz Mountains. This is the mountain range which separates the coast from Silicon Valley. Once upon a time, my little town was quite the hell-raising wild west town for loggers at the turn of the century. The whole of main street consisted of saloons and brothels for the most part. Arrrrrrrrr!! Now they've got me!!!!!!!!!

Wow. So all from North America except me huh...

Except maybe Mucky Pete... I don't know where Blighty is, is it in the US?

Sevenseas - I was up around that area a couple of years ago! I have a second cousin in Santa Cruz who I was visitng, we went and saw the redwoods. We stopped in a nearby town, but it wasn't Boulder Creek I don't think. I don't remember where it was anymore...

Sounds as though you moved to a poor place for avoiding hurricanes, KW!

;)

Capt. William

ahhh, but Key West be a grand place, indeed!

In the three years since I pulled into port, i haven't been hit by one hurricane. We did kick all the tourists off the island a couple of years ago, but that just means more rum for the locals :)

Skots - I'll be seeing you at the Pirate Ball in April!

Well, started off in London, pillaged my way further south to Winchester.

Went back to London.

Carved a debauched trail up to the Highlands o Scotland...

Went back to London.

Pillaged, fought, got drunk, fell down and got up again in Newcastle.

Went back to London.

So thats where I be.... I've never heard of Mirfield - I don't think there's any such place! Unless maybe I burnt it down. ;)

Ahh, there IS a Mirfield, and I didn't burn it down...

And they are very proud of their canal... At least they have a few pictures of it on their website.
