(AP) Maybe pirates took the bronze ship's cannon from the front of a Charleston store.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reported Tuesday the owner of Galleons Lost reported someone took the 18th century cannon last week.

Owner Rich Mutschler said he put the gun out front about 9 a.m. Friday and it was gone 90 minutes later. Mutschler says he had put the cannon in front of the store for weeks and no one bothered it.

Mutschler says the gun could be fired.

It is three feet long and weighs about 250 pounds. It's valued at $10,000.

Wow... I bet the ATF will have a field day with this one... sigh

Interesting...

The store opened in April of this year...

Maybe no one had bothered it before, but this wasn't a 'seize the moment' (cannon?) job. It had to have been planned out.

I wonder if he has video surveillance? I would hoe so, considering what he's selling...

And I agree, the ATF may very well have a good time with it...

Hmm... JollyJackTar, you didn't happen to... no, you already have some great guns to play with... B)

It would be ashame if it were melted and lost forever. B)

I hope the gun is recovered and returned to the owner.

It wasn't me. I'm content with the gold bar I got from Mel Fisher's.

cap'n ...Explorer isnt but 40 mins from me...just give a signal...and sshhh don't tell dutch..

I strongly suspect that for the sake of "rescuing" said gun, Dutch will not notice the Explorer's gone missin...

Kinda makes you wonder about the intelligence of somebody that would put something outside that could be tossed into the back of a pick-up by a couple of guys very quickly, especially something that valuable !!!
