mad dog, thanks for posting and taking all of those great shots! hope others pop up along the way. My head is still spinning. we got the explorer offloaded yesterday and the last of the custom house stowed this morning.

The thieves market went better thaqn expected despite not raffling off the box o goodies. the plans kept changing so ofter we couldn't fit it in, so we did outright sales and still made a tidy sum for the foundation. thanks to all who dontated!

Leigh, please tell me the BIG pan that Mad dogge is cooking bacon in wasn't the one that wandered off!

1) Josh Merriweather's ear to ear grin after Pern tossed him the bow line of the Explorer when we were coming in to dock. He was thrilled even if he had to mouth "what do I do now?" after he caught it.

2) Sean Merriweather's ear to ear grin after boarding the Kalmar Nyckle. William King "Would you like to board her Mr. Merriweather?" Sean: Yeahhhhh!

3)Meeting up with the "family" once again

4)Working with Dutch and William King on the boats...always an honor and privilege and tons of fun.

5)Boarding the Serenity and searching for cargo.

6)Boarding the Nyckle and searching for cargo and Captain Morgans expression when she realized we weren't hailing her from the dock but from the water.

7)Merchant scenario and the outrage at the custom's house

8)Moving the barrels and a great gun(from ship to dock) via the Explorer.

9)Duncan's expression when Israel and I went for a walk on Sunday

10) Feeling the ground vibrate at Battery Point when the great guns fired and set off the car alarms

My top ten for the weekend:

1. Going thru 50+ Pounds of O.P.P. (Other Peoples Powder for those that weren't on the line)

2. The look on John Glass's face as we ran laps thru the Customs House stealing everything not nailed down.

3. Friday nights grand battery for the fireworks.

4. Captain Lauren and the crew of the Nyckel hanging out in camp playing Scuttle Hatch Saturday night.

5. Using the Vicroy's bronze 4 lb piece to "return fire" on the boat that shot at the explorer.

6. Saturday night around the table with Sterling and M.A.d'Dogge

7. Setting off the same car alarm 15+ times from cannon fire.

8. Lily's joy at getting soooo much cannon time on Sunday.

9. The look on Paige McGuyver's face after getting the pitcher of green beer dumped on her in the Marker 20 skit.

10. Twice shooting Vicroy's bronze 4 lb piece with the "little something extra" charges.

That would be the one.

Whoa...that ain't cool! Did anyone first check with the Blackbeard crew? I know in year's past there's been a bit of 'one-upping' as far as flags, chairs and the like...but we've always managed to get these items back or have had some contact after the fact....knowing that the items were safe and sound.

We checked.

Additionally there is now a rule that the borrowed items can not be taken home with the crew that borrowed it. If it had been another crew it would have been returned by Sunday at the close of the event.

The rule now is there is no taking as too many things are actually being stolen by outsiders and certain folks messed up by taking things home instead of returning them prior to the end of the event.

Really wish I could have been there this year. Seems like this year is just not working out for me to make many events but Ethan is getting better about listening to directions and knowing his boundries as far as how far he can walk around before loosing sight of Dad so it might be time to bring him to his first event in Beufort. Anyone want to volunteer to adopt a 6 yr old autistic powder mokey? Really will make it next year though. To everyone that did go, I hope you experienced the same hospitality from Capt. Sterlings crew and Pete and Dutch that I have in the past. This event has always felt like a second home to me and I am very gratefull to all involved for taking in a crewless Capt. To Sterling, sorry your crew did not have the chance to "capture" me this year. We can always extend the challange to next year though...
