What was your "best" pirate moment?

Okay you are at the Faire or doing some living history event, perhaps at a movie premire and you have an encounter that just makes your decade. After said encounter you think to yourself "Yup, that's why I dress up as a pirate!"

The moment need not be with a non-pirate or patron. It could be something you shared with friends or between fellow pirates. It could be a romantic tryst or a funny adventure. Drunk or sober tell me your tale!

Hangin at Execution dock awaits. May yer Life be a long and joyous adventure in gettin there!
As he was about to face the gallows there, the pirate is said to have tossed a sheaf of papers into the crowd, taunting his audience with these final words:

"My treasure to he who can understand."

when i had a little boy come up and say... your' the reason we came to the fest, just to see you!!

Made my little black heart shine!! I signed him up to be a member of the crew, and I thought he would burst with pride!

also got tangled in a video too.. I'm helping fire cannon (hat with yellow feather) and a shot of me at the tables smiling, about 3.21 on the clip..

A few years ago, I participated in a Make-a-Wish event for a young boy named William. He and his family sailed with Jack and me on the Aldebaran and fought a pirate battle with other boats (with real cannons and pistols) and then sailed over to the Bay Area Discovery Museum, which is on the coast just north of San Francisco. We were joined by several other pirates and set up a camp in Lookout Cove. Jack and I gave Will and his sister Hannah some swordfighting lessons and Jack gave Will the gift of a real sword (which Will never let out of his sight from then on.) Later that evening we had a treasure hunt, which culminated in a large chest of toys for William and Hannah. Then we sang some sea chanteys, drank cocoa and went to our respective tents to sleep. The next morning, the other pirates saw us off on the Aldebaran for a sail back to reality. We fired our cannons some more, much to the delight of some hikers on Angel Island. When we got back, Will thanked us profusely and Hannah gave both of us big hugs and said we were her most favourite pirates EVER.

It was cute. I carry a change purse with several fake pieces of eight. Blue Mermaid's boots came untied, so she sat down on a bench under a shaded tree, I knelt down to tie her boot when suddenly a little boy around six years old came up to me with a smile and said, "Hey! No Pirates allowed here!" I just finish with the boots, stood up and reached into my change purse. I handed the boy a big shiney piece of eight. I bowed and told him, "fer yer troubles sire." The boys eyes lit up and ran to him mom. "Mommy, that pirate just gave me pirate money!"

Yer me hero, Iron Bess...

Wow...wish I would have seen that...I've would have taken notes!

He was quite gallant as he passed by me in a walkthrough for the Faire employees…

He doffed his hat, bowed low and the dropped his kisser right onto my chest.

Since I couldn’t cross my hand over, I took the hilt under the quillions and brought the pommel up as hard as I could up into his jaw. Not my intent but I knocked him out cold.

I got security and they escorted the drunken lout off the site.

Waste not, want not.

Hm... Well seeing as how I'm still fairly new I don't have any epic tales, but something rather fun happened recently.

We were doing the weekly performing gig at the tavern and before the first set a few men at the captain's table waved me over to sit with them. I didn't have anything else to do at the time so I joined them, introducing myself and making casual conversation. They were obviously already a bit inebriated but that made it fun. One said that they were going to sing along with us, and so I proceeded to 'prep' them for our biggest audience participation song ("Old Dun Cow") and explained how the key word to remember even if they were completely drunk was "MacIntyre".

The conversation thereafter went something like this:

Guy 1: "If that's the key word, what's the safe word?"

All 3: *laugh*

Me: *thinks for a moment; smirks* "Th' safe word's 'abeus Corpus."

They laughed harder, and then we all made a toast to the Magna Carta. Later on they were bloody well prepared for Old Dun Cow. It was glorious.
