Mistress Lilly, this guy does excellent work but it is quite expensive. However based on the amount of work involved I would have to say his prices are not unreasonable.

I had no idea you guys were into this stuff. I've loved "Steampunk" since I was a kid, just didn't know it had a name until quite recently.

You might also get a kick out of Treasure Planet

I have to say...that is the coolest laptop I have ever seen, and on another note....I LOVE TREASURE PLANET. If you couldn't tell by my avatar :( In my humble opinion the interpretation of Silver in Treasure Planet is one of the best I have ever seen. But I must point out that no one has mentioned one of the coolest steam punk cartoon television series' ever....Tailspin. Tailspin was probably the first thing I remember seeing that would qualify as steampunk.

Both my kids and I love Treasure Planet!!

We've been watching that Long before steamers became an interest. They thought it was just a nice cross between piracy and sci-fi. I was just happy to have something we could watch together!!

Though not really steamer.... Check out the Kurt Russell movie SOLDIER.

I mostly like it because of the look of the scavengers and such.

I can't believe nobody said Wild Wild West, and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (tho it is a little lame).

"Disobediant Monkeys will be shot, Disobediant Undead Monkeys will be shot repeatedly until morale improves"

"They Says Cap'n Alva went funny in the head and turned to Cannibalism while marooned on a peninsula."- Overheard in a nearby camp

The Time Machine (1960)

Directed: George Pal

Rod Taylor

Alan Young

Yvette Mimieux

I know that Rumba had already beat me to it, but I really like this particular version.

Now I'm not sure that either one of the next two quite fall in the Diesel or Steampunk genera, but they both have wonderfully bizarre sets and twisted gadgetry made from an odd mix of old and new tech.

La Cité des Enfants Perdus (1995)

City of Lost Children

Directed: Marc Caro & Jean-Pierre Jeunet

Briac Barthelemy

Guillaume Billod-Morel

Brazil (1985)

Directed: Terry Gilliam

Jonathan Pryce

Kim Greist

Robert De Niro

Katherine Helmond

Michael Palin

La cité des enfants perdus is very very steampunk to me and been my favorite movie for many years. The looks of that movie is so unique it is a must see movie! You can not go wrong with a fishtank brain with big brass side horn and the voice of Jean-louis trintignant. B)

I agree with moth movies above.

I personally liked League as I felt it kep to the feel of the graphic novel. I did not like the addition of Tom Sawyer though, and Sean Connery was perfect as Alan quartermain.

I remember a show back in 2000/2001 The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne. I liked this show and it definately fell into this genre.

I also wanted to bring up the movie Wanted (2008). While the movie itself was not Steampunk, whom here does not want one of the modified semi auto flintlock guns, or the sniper rifle musket?

I'm not sure if this truly qualifies, but I've always loved the movie Time Bandits. It's got time travel and mixing of cultures, especially in the final battle against evil, and what's not to love about a movie that stars a criminal organization composed entirely of little people?

THIS CABIN-LAD'S GROWN HAGGARD, SO IN THE POT HE GOES AND FROM HIS SKIN WE'LL MAKE A LITTLE DRUM TO BEAT AS WE FIRE HUMAN HEADS FROM CANNONS AT OUR FOES. AND SET THE SEAS ABLAZE WITH BURNING RUM.

Although it is a HORRIBLE movie, actually ranks close to number one of worst movies I have ever seen, the Timothy Hines' version of "The War of the Worlds", http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0425638/, is an attempt at a faithful rendition of Wells' novel. The film is set in 1895 and tries, in vain, to present a version that is period correct. I bought a CD of this flick and proudly display it as "the worst movie I own." If a few more million dollars was spent on it then it might be a good Steampunk movie.

TO give you an idea of how bad it is, when they show people riding in a wagon or carriage up close, the majority of the shots show slack reins and it is obvious there are no horses pulling the vehicle. The long shots show these TERRIBLE CGI horses pulling the wagon. And the CGI Thunderchild scenes are so bad as to be laughable! 5-inch, open guns firing without crews. The water flowing in the wrong direction. As Leonard Plinth-Carnell would have said, "Deliciously bad!"

"In the end, it's not the gold that sets our sails,

'Tis freedom and the promise of a better life

That raises our black flags."

The Assassination Bureau (1969) is a great movie that seems to have been forgotten. I'm also a big fan of the version of Metropolis (1927) that was revamped in the 80s and set to new wave music + Giorgio Moroder soundtrack.

Also, Time After Time (1979) starring Malcolm McDowell.

Another on e Rumba beat me to, but I have to blab about it anyway.

The Great Race (1965)

Director: Blake Edwards

Tony Curtis

Natalie Wood

Jack Lemmon

Peter Falk

Keenan Wynn

Natalie is such the little hottie in this movie - OMG - *sigh*.

But Jack Lemmon & Peter Falk steal the show comedicly while Tony and Keenan play the proverbial straight man hero types that anchor the silliness.

And then there's all the cool Steampunky vehicle stuff, cars, a submarine, airship - I've loved this movie since I was a kid.

One of my fav's too!
