I know a couple months ago on the Point of the Cutlass forum someone had posted a call to arms for some pirates to join Extreme Home Makeover to help out with a boy who liked pirates. Didn't know the full extent of it nor the story and couldn't join in the fun cause I got that call to arms nigh a week too late! Pity. But that story was told last night and oh, how it moved me! The lad who likes pirates is named Job. He's 10 yrs old and has battled and won against Luekemia, had a double lung transplant, Wheelchair bound and continues to battle severe health issues. And he's 10! Extreme Makeover: Home Edition gave him a new home and gave him an awesome piraty room. He's even on PotC Online as Captain Job. But surely there is more that can be done! Lady B can you find out more? Theres a lot of pirate stuff for kids. We could each add a trinket to a chest for him..maybe send him the empty chest and then one person a week or two people a week send booty. It would give him weeks of trinkets. I'm sure a sorely needed distraction from what is surely a daily struggle Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.... Her reputation was her livelihood. I'm a pirate, love. But with the lad, keep in mind he has a LOT of health issues, had a double lung transplant and still has lung issues. So, will try to find out some info (unless someone else can pull some strings) to send a care package or set up a fund or better yet, set up some event for this lad. I have my re-check in December, and my cat almost died this weekend.. my battles are small compared to his. Job is a fighter and deserves recognition for it. I think he would like it.. he lives in a small town in AR, you could use some names around him like creeks, towns, maybe his sister?? I thought of something WE ALL can do.. buy an inexpensive flag and have everyone around you sign it.. he can fly them in the yard or add them to his room. We can see which flags we would like to send.. PIP could send a period one with everyone on it. Use fabric contrasting pens to write the name, then gently heat it to keep the names fast.. we did that for Morgan when he went to Iraq. I'm not sure he ever got it back.. anyway, what do you think? MeryD obtained the correct address to send clean (since he has health issues) piratey trinkets or coinage to the young lad. I'm sure he and his family would be thrilled to see items from other pirates or even coinage to help out with his medical costs. Send it to the McCully Family at the address MerryD has listed above.
