Someone told me airline tickets were really cheap right now, so I plugged in a flight corresponding to my flight dates and...it would have been quite a bit cheaper ($410 RT vs $540 RT) for me to fly direct in to Key West if I had booked now than when I booked in March. (And that was before all the gas price nonsense occurred!) So if you've been waiting, you may do well to visit your friendly net purveyor of airline tickets and check the prices for yourself. For the heckuvit, I looked up Salt Lake City to Key West leaving Dec. 1 and returning Dec. 8 and came up with a lowest fare of $547. (From Expedia.) Hint, hint. Jezzy The Butcher Posted October 20, 2008 Share Posted October 20, 2008 You may also want to consider flying into Fort Myers and taking the "Key West Express" fast catamaran to Key West. I looked up fares from Columbus OH to Fort Myers for $238 round trip and the fast cat is like $50 per person. Goes to Key West daily. If you call the number on the Key West Express website, and talk to them, they may even make you a deal, since they are helping with some of the advertising for the festival this year. By the way, for anyone needing rides to or from the airport, Captain Callahan and I will be driving down and will have a great Pyrate (or pyrate hunter) transport vehicle available to pick up folks. Plenty of room for gear etc. PM me with schedule, or call me when you get there, and we can send someone over. *Head in hands*, *crying*...Oh, how I wish I were going with you all to PiP! God love me mum, she needs me to be here to help her with all her heart surgeries and such. I wasn't going to let anything stop me from going...even had some offers to work the festival to make some additional $$ while there, but me mum is more important. The festival at the fort itself has been extended. It is now Thursday, Dec. 4 through Dec. 7. For those that have flexibility in your booking or travel arrangements, you may want to adjust for a four-day festival instead of the original three. I would assume that means camps can be set up Dec. 2 and 3... a day earlier than originally planned. Mission Posted February 21, 2009 Share Posted February 21, 2009 Wow...I was trying to sign up for one of those fare notifier things (Travelocity) when I discovered that the flight cost from Detroit direct into Key West airport on AA, leaving Tuesday, Dec. 1st (2009) and returning the following Tuesday with one stopover in Miami is $276 ($325 once you apply the airport fees and such.) I have never seen that flight that cheap in the 17 years I've been flying there. The cheapest I can recall is about $300 terminating in Miasma International Airport - not Key West. And that was more than 10 years ago. Plus the seating is wide open. Sign me up! (I suggest everyone check their favorite on-line flight searcher! Particularly Patrick!!)
