I was passing through New London CT, and I stopped for about 10 minutes at the pier festival. I didn't have time to approach or ask, since I was with people, and somewhat in a hurry. Not sure about RI, but it's all in the same neck of the woods. I don't really know about the crimson shirt, as I've been gone for the past few years. Definitely a fun group if you're in the area.
