It's my friend 'In' Canada that says it takes o'er a month for a CD I mail to her to finally reach her, and she says all her packages from the USA are either "opened or have been opened then re-taped" when she does finally get them. Usually when she sends me CDs I get them in 2 or 3 weeks. She (my Canadian friend) was so worried when I told her I had sent some CDs for she says the Customs up there go through EVERYTHING and if they even 'suspect' that I was sending her anything bootleg ( a pirate would NEVER do that!) then she would never see it....it did finally reach her, and she said the package was open on one end...go figure eh The only things I get here that are 'opened' are ones that UPS deliver and th' box looks like they played soccer with it all the way, 'n then stopped off at th' zoo t' let th' gorilla play with it, then dropped it off th' back o' th' truck....a few times! I heard all about some new laws in Canada (not sure if they were proposed or had just passed), but aparently Canada is getting pretty anal about any and all recorded (pirated?) music/software/movies (basically any recorded media)... It is aparently a very big issue at the moment. But other than recorded media Metasalem has it right... Actually it is a 44mm Cannon, that happens to be 1.73 inch and it was complete. Why am I sharing my opinion? Someone posted somehting a hile ago to the effect that buckes were around 1¼", based on the shoe found on the Whydah wreck (which I ordered). ...and reenactor purists are going to hate me because I requested smooth side out. Pyle's renderings are nice, but they are fanciful as well. For instance, there was only one official portrait of Henry Morgan ever painted and it was in Jamaica. It later went into private hands and hasn't been seen since on the island. casketchris Posted July 15, 2008 Share Posted July 15, 2008 the reason for my post was not to say howards painting are 100 % spot on, but the shoes in said painting have small buckles much like the ones that gof carries... just thought it was funny that alot of people bash his non historical clother yet in this painting there is aa shoe much like the one in this post... it was more of a hey this is cool check it out kinda thing.... I spoke to Blair yesterday, and according to him, my order was in the process of being shipped from the factory to their place in N.S. If you have an issue just call 902-479-0967 and ask for Blair. Me being in the shoe import business, I started asking questions like "do you have the factory invoice?", etc. , and of course his response was like "oh yeah, they'll be here anytime, ....etc". However, me being of a fool, I didn't ask whether they were being shipped by container ship or air cargo. So...if anyone calls Loyalist Arms, please ask them their method of shipping. I am hoping that the Emma Mærsk, or whatever ship it be, was not intercepted by pirates somewhere off the coast of Somalia. The shoes are made in India. We even paid to have them rushed in time for Beaufort.... still no shoes... I will assume one of two things have occurred: One, the factory in India has incurred problems and delays. These are special make-up shoes, not from a production line....which in one sense, a good thing, that not being from an assembly line. Having personal experience with shoe factories in Asia, there is a lot of politics and attrition....bad. Two, the delivery could have intercepted, not by pirates, but from customs officials, either canadian or US, and detained indefinitely because something else was also in the package, other than what the manifest or waybill says...such as drugs or pirated dvd's. As far fetched as this notion may seem, India is a far less controlled exportation, then say, China. My company's shoes leave the port of Shenzhen, China where our factories are, then directly to Long Beach, california. There is really no room for illicit busines, particularly in a fairly closed and controlled society such as China. We don't even export from Hong kong anymore, which would have meant the 3 hour truck drive from China across the border into HK, thus some security holes. India seems like 'anything goes' type of place. You figure smuggling stuff into Canada is probably far easier than into the US, particularly with the new Homeland Security procedures.
