  1. Thanks guys, I appreciate it! I'm getting ready to celebrate with my family as soon as dinner is finished cooking, and I'm already eyeing my presents and wondering what they got me... My mom and brother had fun finding pirate images and peppered the wrapping paper with them and it looks absolutely cool. Thanks for the well wishes and the drinks! If I can get my camera and computer to cooperate I'll try to post a few pictures later of what they did. Cheers!
  2. Congratulations! You managed to pass as a man in the army, and died like one, too. Severe death. .....Hmmm, I died severely. That sounds about right, lol
  3. Thanks for the warm welcomes, mates. As to a little about meself... I've loved pirates since I saw Peter Pan and Muppet Treasure Island, and since the Pirates of the Caribbean movies have come out a wide array of pirate fiction has followed in their wake and so I've been able to get my fill of new stories by reading those. I'm a writer at heart, and though I have a wide interest in writing fantasy and scifi, I have two writing projects involving pirates that I work on occasionally, so I was glad to have found this forum where I could glean so much inspiration from the likes of yourselves. :) At some point I would love to be involved in reenactments, but with the severe lack of sea this far inland, I think the only 'ship' I can claim to be captain of is my horse as we go sailing over the hills. As for my name, I wish I had a fance story of how I got it, but The Barbary Rose was thrown out of a pirate name generator and I just really liked it, lol. Shiloh
  4. My first influencewas watching Peter Pan, then reading the book. When Muppet Treasure Island came out I watched that over and over, and then piracy fell by the wayside as I took up other interests (mainly writing and reading of fantasy). I got back into pirates when I found a book called "Jade", I forget the author's name, but it was about the fictional character Jade who fell in with Anne Bonney, Mary Reed and Jack Rackham. I was hooked after that, and it only intensified when Pirates of the Carribbean came out. I have several writing projects underway at the moment, two involving pirates, and I hope one day to move to a place where they have pirate get togethers and festivals and the like. As of yet I am still marooned here in the desert, lol.
  5. I just stumbled across this place and felt the need to drop me anchor here among you salty seadogs. I've never been good at intros, but I hope to get to know you while I'm here and te learn more about our brethren of the sea. Happy sailing to you! Shiloh, the Barbary Rose
