  1. Oi! I finaly got hold of my shitty webcam so you can at least guess what my two pirate tattoos look like... This is the one on my shoulder... And this is tha one on my leg... The pics are awful, I know... I will try go get better pics if anyone is interrested... I hope these links to the pics work. If not I have posted the pics on the pub photo album too...
  2. Might it be the song also called "Cardiff Rose"? The first verse goes: The sun came up over the Spanish Sea Our homeland far behind us Being hunted by the king´s navy I´m sure he´ll never find us Pull away, me lads of the Cardiff Rose and hoist the Jolly Roger I´ve actually got an mp3 of the song at: http://www.menvafan.net/pirat/songs/Molly_...Jolly_Roger.mp3 The band singing it is the swedish band Mollys(formerly known as Molly Maguires). The mp3 is totally legal, since I got permission from the band to put it online :)
  3. The avatar I´m using is of course based on the Jolly used by FC St. Pauli (http://www.fcstpauli.de). I just added the anarchist-A and the squat-sign. :)
  4. Royaliste: Neonazithing? me? Nazis are those I try to beat up as often as possible. And I´ve got the scars to prove it Actually we are more or less in war with the nazis here in Sthlm, with the cops in between trying to protect the nazis...
  5. Hmm... I actually only have two pirate-related tattoos so far(there are at least two more on the way though...). A classic skull n crossbones, based on the FC St. Pauli skull, on my leg and the "eat the rich" design on my shoulder. I´ll try to get some pics as soon as I get my digi-cam back... And I´ll of course post pics of the new ones when I get them...
  6. Kool! Do you kow if there are any actual photos of this flag anywhere on the net? Or do you know of how to find out what museum it was?
  7. "years long gone" I´d say would be 19th century or earlier... And kudos to you for flying the JollyRoger for 30 years :) The lyric means: "And now sing the Likdeelern song When our flag waves It is to late for all ships We are uited in the fight Gods friends and Enemies to all the world" It is from a song called "Störtebeker" by the great german punkband Slime.
  8. I think my mom has a picture of me posing in front of that 19th century Jolly Roger. I must be around 6 or 7 years old... It is a "must do" thing every time I go to Mariehamn to go to the Maritime museum just to see that flag :) Does anyone now if that is the only existing real* Jolly Roger? Or are there any other somewhere else? *With real I mean that it must have flown on a actual pirateship during years long gone by.
  9. Actually, those who made Friggin´ famous in the pop/rock scene was SexPistols who used it on the soundtrack of their rather odd movie "the Great Rock´n Roll Swindle". Anthrax may have recorded it too, but since I know they know their punk-history, I´ll bet my cannons they did it as a homage to Sid and the lads...
  10. Sport, well yes. But nonetheless my point is that these fencingmasters are masters of the sword, be it in sport or combat. They seldom have to defend their lifes with the sword, thats true, but the techniques are tought. But several of the fencingmasters were around when duels still were fought with sharpened sabres, so to say they only know sportfencing is nothing but bull. This is my point that I don´t seem to get through. Sure we don´t run around with swords in the streets today, and that is why the sword mostly is used in sports. But that does not mean that the art of self defence with a sword has traveled away from those who use it most. If you train under one of these fencingmasters you know that they most certanly can teach you duelfencing, battlefencing or any other non-sport style. Some don´t like it and will not teach you because of that, but others like it and will teach it if you ask and show interrest.
  11. I do not think we are talking about the same thing, since you seem to be talking history... The tradition of "fencingmasters"(the swedish word is "fäktmästare") is still very much alive. Many of the headcoaches of the nationalteams in FIE are fencingmasters. Especially those from eastern europe. In France, Hungary, Sweden, Russia and many other counties I _know_ you more or less have to be a fencingmaster to be accepted as a serious fencingcoach. The club I used to train for had fencingmaster Bela Rerrich as headcoach, he coached Sweden to several olympic goldmedals in the 70's. The tradition of wich he is part of is old, very old. And more importantly, it is unbroken. Since this tradition is still alive I actually think it is a little without respect to re-invent the title while there still are people wearing it with pride after a long period of training.
  12. Right now it actually looks like there will be a small crew coming from Sweden. The leftovers from the now long gone Buccaneers of the Louis de Fere are trying to gather the money so we can travel across the pond. :)
  13. Actually fencingmaster (wich I belive is the english word) is a title you earn much in the same way you earn the title lawyer. There is a long training with an exam in the end. This is a tradition that travels ceturies back in time. In the beginning the fencingmaster was the dude teaching soliders(mostly officers) to fence. In most older regiments in europe there still is a tradition of fencing kept alive with a fencingmaster. But fencingmasters are most easily found in sportfencing today. There is a widely spred rumour that these fencingmasters don't know anything about how people fenced with "real" weapons, this however is nothing more than bullshit. All real fencingmasters are thought how to fence with real weapons, even though it's not what they will be teaching.
  14. One thing that came to mind right away is one single login, so when you log in, you log into your mail, the galleries and the message board at the same time... And an extended presentation of the users would be fun... :) (I'll post the suggestions here so everyone who cares can comment on them)
  15. Pyracy.com+NQG are together getting bigger and bigger.... What are the plans? A pirate-comunity with personal "cabins" and "logbooks"? Or are you just making things up as you guys go?
