  1. You can also order the Skeleton Head Knocker here: http://www.portroyaltradingco.com/pr_misc1.html
  2. I had the occasion to be in Georgetown, Grand Cayman Island last week and stumbled*into the Pirates Week Festival Office *(I actually tripped over a few other touristas.) The folks were so nice I thought I'd give them a plug in the Forum. This is the 27th Annual Pirates Week and it runs from Oct 24th through Nov. 2nd this year. You can check out their website at: http://www.piratesweekfestival.com/ PS. They have the best deal on Piratical t-shirts in town <g>
  3. Me woman and me self collect collections... (And after a number of years in the antique trade we have quite a few...) In the piratical vein we collect: - Old Pirate movie posters, costumes and props (Fer our soon to be Pirate Stuff Museum) - Old Pirate figure bookends and statues - And anything else piratical that suits our fancy
  4. Capt Weaver and Cascabel, thanks for your interest. I'll have to check on the beaver fur content but this hat is the manufacturers midrange body between rabbit fur and 100% beaver. Three hat body sizes are available in this blend: (Crown x Brim) 5-3/4" x 4-3/8", 6-1/4" x 4-3/8" and 6-1/4" x 5-3/8". In addition, the hats are available in (4) head sizes: 6-3/4 to 6-7/8, 7 to 7-1/8, 7-1/4 to 7-3/8 and 7-1/2 to 7-5/8. The approx. $55.00 price is for the larger size. There are also different colors available at different times. Below is picture (3) hat bodies currently in stock. The colors shown are Black, Granite and Dark Brown.
  5. For fellow forum mates with a sense of daring do... We have found a source for quality beaver mix "fur felt" hat bodies. These are the same hat bodies used to make the very expensive cowboy and other hats and will stand up to bad weather. ("Wool felt" bodies are commonly used in most costume hats and are not weather hardy.) We are able to offer these hat bodies for around $55.00 each because they have small imperfections. A hat body is a bare bones hat which has not been blocked, the brim hasn't been trimmed and there is no sweatband. We are able to get various sizes and colors depending on availability. Your comments would be much appreciated.
  6. I spoke to Disney Licensing yesterday and was surprised to find out that very little POTC merchandise has been licensed. The skeleton nodder we carry is currently about the only thing available (Outside of the Disney parks). This may change if the movie stays strong in the box office.
  7. Yar and Guffaw there mates! POTC licensed merchandise is, at this point, a little hard to find but we have managed to find one item. We have recently added a POTC skeleton nodder to our website. You can see it at http://portroyaltradingco.com/pr_misc1.html We're on the lookup fer more stuff and would appreciate any suggestions.
  8. Well.... Maybe I was a little hasty... I've blown off about 2-3 hours this morning on POTC (the game). I have noticed the game plays a lot slower that SeaDogs, even in the Arcade mode. Also, the Gods of Video games must be with me as I haven't had the game crash all morning. I've somewhat aquired a few skills but still have a long way to go. Hand to hand combat is much harder than in Seadogs and I have "given up the ghost" a number of times. One big difference is that the ships now have bow guns. (This kinda puts the kabosh on some of my old manuvers...) Another difference, is that you can't tell how many cannonballs you have left unless you open up the Hot Commands menu (Which is how you have to change the ammunition type also). I liked the old status bar under the mini-map in SeaDogs. As I mentioned, the instruction book alludes to some commands I still can't find... Most importantly (to me), the "speed up" (Or old Turbo) command while you're at sea. The book says it is the "R" key but you can't find the command listed in the Options in the game menu. The scroll bars in the Skills and Abilities section only barely work and you must "grab" the slider and more it up and down. There are a few other miscellaneous pains in the patootie but maybe they'll be solved in time.
  9. Since I wrote my first post, I've been able to work my way forward somewhat. The biggest problem I've found so far is that the "engine" can crap out on you at any given time and leave you "dead in the water". I've learned to "save" frequently.
  10. I was so entralled with SeaDogs that I preordered the the new POTC (SeaDogs2) game... Perhaps it was a mistake. Although the graphics are great, the game itself is very buggy and prone to crashing. In addition, I've found the documentation to be near to worthless as what the book tells you and how the game plays can be two different critters. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not wise in the ways of RPG games but this game seems to have a greater than normal learning curve. I keep checking the BethSoft site for patches but I guess they're afraid to admit there are so many bugs. Anyone else played the game yet? Fair Winds and Rich Plunder, Long Steve
  11. Although Peter Blood (Flynn) makes one fine pirate, I'll be thinkin' you'd be hard pressed to top Wallace Beery (?) as Long John Silver in the original "Treasure Island".
  12. I'll try not to be braggin' too much but me an me wench recently purchased a vest worn by Yul Brenner in the movie "The Buccaneer". The funny thing is that most of the youngin's that work for us don't even know who Yul Brenner is... Along with the vest came a publicity photo head shot of Yul from the movie... and he had har! <g>
  13. I was recently doing some research on sources for pirate blades (Which we hope to carry in the near future). In me search, I came upon this image of, what was listed in the auction as a "17th Century Caribbean Cutlass". If memory be serve'n me, it went fer over $500.00. Fair Winds & Rich Plunder to Ye, Long Steve
  14. Capt. Flint (Me buckoo), They have been showing a TV program on one of the History or Discovery channels recently on the QAR. Based on the location, the number of cannons and dated items, they are pretty sure she be she. The show has popped up a number of times recently show if you get Cable, you may be able to see it. Fair Winds & Rich Plunder to Ye, Long Steve Pyrite
  15. I be know'n this is a bit self servin' on my part but PortRoyalTradingCo.com and IslandMadness.com both have quite a few items fer those wishin' to party in a piratical style. Fair Winds & Rich Plunder to ye, Long Steve
