  1. I am looking for recommendations on swivel guns. G Gedney Godwin has an unfinished, unlined brass guns for sale for a decent price. Loyalist arms has one finished and lined (I believe) for sale for a lot more. Has anyone ever purchased one from either of these sources and, if so, what are your opinions. If someone has a better recommendations of sources, I am open for suggestions. I am looking for a gun to mount off a deck and be able to make my opinions known in the wooded valleys and fields behind my house. Sebastian Arms Quartermaster of the Dread Ship DB and aspiring gunner
  2. Having just recieved my doglock pistol from Loyalist Arms and having sent a few shots through it last night, I find the need to share my enjoyment of this fine firearm. I have never bought anything from that company before, but will do so in the future. The pistol is in top notch condition and handles well. I would highly recommend that particular piece to anyone interested in a doglock pistol. On a jointed note, I have plenty of Rev War tools for cleaning or servicing flintlock guns, but am interested in contemporary pics or info on gun tools (esp. turnscrews ) from the GOAP period. As always, your servant, Sebastian Arms, Quartermaster of the Dread Ship DB
  3. Aye, Captain, As an avid fan of the Brigands-it was a pleasure to see you all live at the Blackbeard Festival. I count myself lucky that I was able to get a copy of Pirate Scum before they were sold out. You are all true entertainers and I look forward to another performance this season. Here's to you, Sebastian Arms
  4. Pouge, I just got a very fancy tricorn from Dirty Billy's. I am very pleased with the hatm but it took nearly two years to get it. The quality and fit are fantastic. Sebastian Arms
  5. Although not officially on TLAPD, we are hosting a pirate festival the weekend of Sept 23. Tavern (The Mermaid's Cannons), live music(by Pirate Billy), feats of strength/daring/insanity, etc. all to be experienced. If ye be near Winchester, VA that weekend drop me a pm for attendance info. Your Servant Sebastian Arms, QM of the Dread Ship DB
  6. Well, I have ordered both pistols and will develop my own review for submittal this fall. I have talked with a gunsmithing friend who has worked on both pieces and he underlines the concept -you get what you pay for. As far as the woodwork, I will bring it to my specs and he can handle the lock work. Lots of powder to burn. Now to defarb my hanger/cutlass by looking at other threads. Mr Arms.
  7. Here's another book I just finished, 'Dead Man's Chest' by Capn Johnson. This has no connection to the movie. It is a sequel to Treasure Island. Based right prior to the Rev War it focused on that naval power house John Paul Jones. Takes a while for pirates to be involved, but old Long John himself is behind the scenes a lot. Mr. Arms
  8. I am currently reading Daniel Defoe's 'The Life Adventures And Pyracies of the Famous Captain Singleton' and enjoying it immensely. Not piratical but nautical and well written is the series Kydd by Julian Stockwin. Sebastian Arms
  9. I find that with two such reveiws available, I will be trying the LA version first. Here's to the smell of blackpowder in the morning. Sebastian
  10. Thanks for both replies. The 'butt ugliness' can be dealth with if the lock is reliable. I think one of each may be a good call if me fortune allows. Any other personal experiences with either of those pistols out there? Sebastian
  11. Does anyone have one of these pistols? Is it a good buy/reliable lock? You opionions/experiences are appreciated. http://www.middlesexvillagetrading.com/PDOG.shtml Sebastian Arms
  12. Tea bags has worked well for me. Despite many washings, the tint has stayed. Black walnut hulls broken up and placed in boiling water can work-just let the water cool and soak the shirt first in plain water. Mr Arms
