First, and foremost, being a good mother to my daughter and being a good wife to my husband... Second, knitting, painting, drawing, needlework... oh yes, and historic reenacting.
  1. I too was a graphic designer... the manager for a catalog department at a school supply company, but that was a while ago now. And you've nailed it on the head, Mary! Currently, I'm a full-time mom. Do some sewing on the side. Also, make bonnets for the victorian time period (mainly 1870-1880's). Though I may have to enter the work force again come fall. The little one will be in school full-time by then. Now I just need to figure out what I want to do!? -Skittles
  2. ^ Yup, with our very own Cheeky and Mad dog's ex, Rachel. Cheeks stuffed me into the "red" dress that I wore for Trader's last year. I don't think Andy will ever let me leave the house without him again We caused quite a commotion... < Just ate fast food when I promised myself that I was going to start eating healthier. v french fried or onion rings?
  3. Kass, Now that is exciting news! I've been very reluctant to start a stocking using the pattern I have (even though it is high on my list of things to do) because I really want it to be correct. It is going to be very painstaking work (hand cramps and all!) so maybe I'll wait for your knit stocking pattern to come out and do it right the first time - Skittles
  4. Michael, if you cut your scrap linen in approximately 1-1/2" squares and then center a quarter on it, trace the quarter and do your running stitch, pull your gathers, it gives you a 1/2" size self-fabric button! If you have too much fabric to stuff into the button, just trim it off and stuff in the raw edges. - Skittles
  5. ^ We have way too much salsa in our pantry... regular, medium, peach/pinapple salsa, raspberry salsa, chipotle salsa < just watched an episode of "Rome" on HBO v Flintstones or Jetsons?
  6. ^ Only to the "Time Warp" < Would really love to learn ballroom dancing, but hubby has two left feet v Taken any sort of lessons? i.e. music, dance, swimming, etc?
  7. ^ Sorry, Chole! You got your post in before me! So to answer your question... usually my husband does the grocery shopping < I like the convenience of internet shopping v do your shopping at the mall or online?
  8. ^ Definitely not go out. And seeing that my husband proposed to me the day after Valentines Day (in front of the Jr. High school where we met - what a romantic ) I vote for doing something special the day after... < Listening to the tv in the other room... said Husband watching Final Destination 3 v horror movie or romantic comedy?
  9. ^ Yes, I suppose... at least I can play an instrument and read music. Flute... < My friend is getting me back into playing music again, and it's pretty fun to be involved in something like that again. v Jock or band geek?
  10. Here is a link I found quite some time ago concerning cloth stockings... http://www.faucet.net/costume/period/Flemish8.html (now I hope that works ) -Skittles
  11. Er, well yes, Captain, I will get started as soon as you get me those measurements Not scolding, just anxious to get started... And a tip to anybody willing to try their own stockings, I've read that it's better to knit both simultaneously, so you get two stockings that match and you won't poop out after doing one and lose interest in finishing the other. There is a historic knitting chat site that offers great advice, as well as great links for patterns and yarn. -Skittles
  12. ^ Just about now, it's too much winter. Waiting for spring! < I am quite shy until I get to know you V Do you snore?
  13. Yes Foxe, I believe I have a photo of you in your wonderful thrum cap... I just need to find it and figure out how to post photos to the site. - Skittles
  14. The service was long and afraid am I that most I could not understand. As the people from the church left and outside into the evening walked, my Andrew to our captain went. My Andrew excited is, for now there is a chance for prizes taken out at sea. Perhaps our luck is changing then. Shhh to mention luck, our captain believes not in it. I suppose he correct is but I am so certain not. From a land of Trolls sailed I... Now, stand I aside and watch as the menfolk amongst themselves do speak. And then another good thing happens. A man from the shipyards comes and tells our captain that he is ready for the Archangel to come the repairs to make. She is to sail into the yards tomorrow. The officers happy now are, except our captain. Something is troubling him, he is not right. He says he will not be back to the ship for dinner this night when earlier this day he did ask Andrew and Master Hazzards to dinner with him. Return he will when it is time to make for the careening of the ship. "Skittles" March
  15. I am Mistress March. Please to excuse my broken English as for am I Norwegian. Wife am I to the first officer of the Archangel, and his captain and he do call me Skittles. Wonder I, at times, if it be because of my passion for this silly game or because of the headdress for my bunad. Meet I my husband when his ship several journeys to my homeland made. Married were we and with his captain's permission, on board the Archangel came I as landress and semstress to Captain Sterling and other officers to be . Easy my life is not, but grateful am I to be with Andrew. Good is my husband, and kind is his captain to us both, although with his heart, too many decisions makes our captain, instead of with the good sense our God him did give. "Skittles" March
