  1. Got two copies. It is wonderful to watch this film with the clarity the DVD provides and in widescreen. And yes, can't believe it took them this long, There is also an excellent commentary on the film by Fraser Heston. Favorite character? Without question, Oliver Reed as Billy Bones... My favorite pirate in any film, bar none...
  2. An interesting side note related to Saint Augustine and it's "situado" (resupply), Governor Montiano (1737-49) reportedly sent a message to the King shortly after assuming his post in Saint Augustine, stating he was going to engage in trade with the English in order to insure the survival of the colony since the situado was so far in arrears. I just recently heard this tidbit and have not yet verified it, but it coincides with Montiano's personality and known illegal trading activities which occurred with Charles Towne to the north.
