  1. Hello all I've been wondering how common was tatooing with pyrates and sailors of the era?
  2. You guys answered my question when i refered to a 1750s style waistcoat I meant early waistcoats in general 1720s, 1730s styles etc as far as backing goes would muslin be correct?
  3. Here is my 18th century arsenal... The Brown Bess is a hand made R Talley Brown Bess Dragoon Carbine and the only one he ever made that im aware of? Powder Horn - made it my self .75 Cal pistol- some sort of kit gun i aquired had to case harden the whole thing to get it to fire Tomahawk plug bayonet Belly box my all purpose knife sword- its like a cutlass without a guard i never carry it im a farmer from Brunswick County turned pyrate I favor my back country weapons
  4. were should the backing fall on a 1750s style waist coat? I know earlier styles were longer and that later styles the back was the same lenghth as the front but for example on the movie Pirates of the Caribbean and the recent Black beard Documentery I've noticed the back being shorter than the front is this correct?
  5. [quoteSlops, were they a cover for pants or just a loose baggy pants? ] Yes they were to be made bigger than your normal size and worn over the rest of your cloths. like coveralls.
