  1. Just listening to some good old spychobilly music... a cover version from "I´m on fire" by Guana Batz
  2. Well... I´m a bit lazy this time... so let´s just see what the wiki says about LARP: What is LARP? It gives quite a good overview about the different games called LARP. Me, I prefer to play "history orientated" (plots/setting/clothing) without fantasy elements, magic and stuff. So someone created a new word for it: Reenlarpment. There are P&P based, upleveling/uppowering rulesysrems... but I don´t like them. We have kind of guidelines, almost without written rules... it simply says: "YOU CAN WHAT YOU CAN (PORTRAY)" You have to convince the others by acting and playing (and of course clothing!) that what you are doing effects something ... and not because you have written skills on a little piece of paper Sorry for putting this thread so way off topic!
  3. Live Action Role Playing........ Kinda like D&D, but instead of rolling dice, you get to hit other people using boffer swords and such.... Mhmm... doesn´t sound much like the hobby I´m doing. If it´s of interest I´ll explain it later... but right know I´m too tired to write something wise.
  4. Thank you! I´m very pleased with the "common look"... even if most of the LARP- pirates wouldn´t recognize me as a sailor without a cocked hat The clothing is all made by me... except the striped slops... I wasn´t able to sew much in the past few weeks, so I´ve ordered a pair of slops, trousers and a shirt from Kass to complete my outfit for a huge event I´m going to in two weeks... so if you folks want some really good stuff and won´t make it yourself: Get it from Reconstructing History... it´s worth every single cent you pay for it! And no, I´m not on her paylist
  5. This is how I started with a pirate LARP character a few years ago: And this is my latest LARP character, Mr. Weland Pommery: Unfortunately it started to rain so my wife couldn´t make more pictures from me in my entire outfit. With some work on a few details I guess I will easily fit in an Living History or Reenactment event... but I prefer to do some Reenlarpment
  6. Here´s a topic in "Pirate Pop" about ink... seems to be very unpopular around the folks here...so please don´t go into this "I have lots of inks/ I´m an outsider" - thing... it won´t work. And again: Captain Twill is about historical accuracy, evidences and scientific researches. If you post your pictures from your garb in this section of the pub, you will get comments about the accuracy of your stuff... If you post your pictures in other sections of the pub, the same people, who have so up-turned noses will compliment you about the good work you´ve made with your costume... at least if it´s good You can learn a lot from the folks arround here if you wish and ask them... most of the times you will get a reasonable answer... maybe not what you want to hear, but reasonable... so it´s just about how you deal with it.
  7. I didn´t said that I want it on my skin. I´m very pleased with my fully inked upper arms and shoulders (everything black & grey). The theme would not fit into the concept Because it looks cool? It´s the same like with other themes or styles...temporary fashion. The look is more important than the symbolism. There are many folks out there who almost don´t know nothing about the themes they have on their skin. Yupp! When I´m on an event I never show my tatoos.
  8. Ah... okay... thank you! As a pagan I don´t have to know this
  9. Speeking of tatoos and sailors: What is the origin of this one? believe, love, faith Is it just a "Sailor Jerry oldschool ink" from the last century or is this theme older?
  10. Kass... I guess there is time for some advertising from you
  11. Great Jacket! Cant hardly wait to get my patterns from kass and beginn with my own jackets... I will make one from yellow (mustard colour) wool and one from hemp canvas found a shop on german ebay who sells hemp canvas for a really good price Is this kind of collar an included option in the pattern?
  12. @Patrick: I refered my book and mixed something up... next time I will read first, read again and then write something
  13. Accessories, Chemise, knitting pattern.... happily I will have my birthday in april and know what Í will answer if someone will ask me what I want for birthday... fabric and patterns
  14. @blackjohn: I´ll explain it... Because of my weight I´ve started with (109 Kg) I have 26 points a day to eat from. Food like fruits and vegs have no points. For things like a glass of coke or a chocolatebar you can almost count half of the points you have for the day. If you´re doing exercises it will be rewarded... when I make a long walk with my dog (1,5 h) I get 2 points plus. The thing is... you can eat everything but the amount varies. I was on the weighing machine today... I´m by 105,9 kg for now.
  15. There are a lot of (heated) discussions on the Muzzleloading forum about Pemicin ... Pemmikan......however it's spelled..... but none of them mention using any spices..... I will check my books if I mixed something up.
