I guess there is. As far as my experiences in historical fencing there are many techniques to disarm the opponent or get his sword out of the line or occupied simply the left hand is used. The right hand, often protected by basket or hilt, is delivering an attack then with high efficienzie. Friendly blows, Jack

I hardly can imagine a cutlass simply worn in the belt without scabbard. it was/is sharp edged, so it will cut the belt within a short time or hurt people including the bearer. Baldric, belt scabbard, however. But naked...? Cheers, Jack

For most pirate reenacting flintlocks are the common guns, so no firecaps are used. They belong to a later era, civil war and so on. Your "gun" isn't a gun after all, it's a cheap cast wallhanger or a toy. Not usable for firing/igniting/crackling anything. It's much too dangerous, and if you run the lock too often it will simply break. Cheers, Jack

I personally like Pussers and Gay Mountain (know, sounds...ahhh...well...), last is a golden barbados rum. As an everydays rum and in out tent pirates cocktail tavern (bookable for events) we use the "Ols Pascas", brown and white. I don't know it is available somewhere else than here in Germany. It is very smooth and a good cocktail base, 'cause the own flavour isn't that strong after all. Our favourite drink (in our customers opinion) is "Tortuga Libre", made of (cylindrical glass needed) 2 fingers high white rum, two fingers high brown rum, two fingers high lime, and, al last, two fingers high Coke. Unfortunately, we have not many quality rums over here. Most are "German Rum", which means cheap blends. Fair winds, Jack

I agree. Unfortunately a machete is not a combat weapon (even if you could use one for that purpose) and from it's complete shape it has nothing in common with a sword or even cutlass. Marcus

Hi, Kevin, sorry for having a different opinion. I have seen so many broken blades, all of the same reason. If you take a look on the break, you see the crystal structure of the blade's steel very good. It's matte, but 2-4 mm are like mirror polished. That's where the steel has been compressed and inflicted breaking. The break is almost straight with a tooth on the opposite end. The typical way a blade breakes. Foxe's adress looks quite great. Alternatively I still recommend Jiri's blades. But, certainly, I've never seen one of yours. Just crying people with indian cheap replicas or united cutlery swords, freshly broken and spent a lot of money for nothing. I guess it's a military solution. Try to shoot a muzzleloader while wearing a hat with a wide brim. It will be more then just uncomfortable. With the brim dressed up it's a lot easier not to get in conflict with head and gun and not to burn the hat by pan's flash. Also manouvering within the lines is easier. Many tricorns had loops and hooks to release the brim when weather is bad or you stand sentry in the rain. Jack

In a sword has a good sound it is a bad sword after all. Vibrations of the blade go up during fight, it's only a matter of time. In historical fighting arts there is no parry as seen in the movies. This would ruin a sword fast. First in gets the shape of a saw, then also a great sword of a quite fine smith will break. Metal gets compressed, the steel looses it's crystal structure...that was it. The real fighting style let's energy never end, just changes direction of it. Cheers, Jack
