  1. Well in the late 18th Century Warin Hasting got caught with his hand in the cookie jar, the problem was the members were did private trade which made them rich instead of the Company, that one of the reasons why India was plundered Men of low cunning wanted to inrich themselves. Don't forget about the South Sea Bubble in 1720, LW
  2. Hi this is world of my Pirate setting which I need help with, this world has Six Seas and has a Caribbean, now D&D states when creating a world start small I'm taking the Island of Cuba and during so the Z shape Island which currently on it's side so it will be like when you write the letter Z. Isla De Juventud will turned to were the harbor will be in 3:00 postion on a clock. The Bermuda Island will be turned up side down and placed under Cuba Island were it's in our world it's above, Oswald Octavius: He is one the main characters of my setting his Noble family fell on hard times and had to go into service to the Butterscotch family a neva rich Merchant family, The Octavius coat of Arms is Black Octopus on a White background. LW
  3. It was the Dutch East India Company that behaved in real life that the fictional British East Indian Company is shown in the Movies, like in Beyond the Mask movie. Would a English Company like that use and train Assassin's, Mercs yes but full trained killers I don't know. LW
  4. Hi I was wondering why the British East India Company as bin shown as Bad Guys in Movies, in the Pirate of Caribbean series and Behind the Mask movie. In the 18th Century there shown as greedy Corp like in Wall Street. LW
  5. Hi I need help with info about The Pirate Republic in Nassau, the islands that were near the Pirate Republic that helped out as well like Harbor Island. Before anyone mentions it yes I have the book on the Republic of Pirates, BTW how much can a 21th century man screw up early 18th Century?. LW
  6. Hi I was watching Black Sails a supported Pirate TV show unlike Crossbones, and it's a good show but I was wondering how did they speak back then in the early 18th Century?, the talk on the show is 21th Century a lot of salt in it. Example 81th Century swears, I don't believe that they were as complete as we know them today. Also we must count in Pigin that talk of those trying to get there point across do to the fact that Pirate crews were made up of different nations, and they didn't all speak them same words. LW
  7. The point of this posting is that when Woode Rogers cleaned up the Island of New Providence he was a garbage man which means he was going to be rewarded, in the grand English style he was told afterwards to bugger off politically. The problem with Pirates is that they were like Bootleggers of 1920's they could make the fast cash but they couldn't save for a rainy day, also they couldn't build ether so clearing a building a republic on a Island would be very hard. LW
  8. I've bin thinking of this lately, the 1718 King's Pardon the Woodes Rogers brought to Nassau. It's goal was to drive out the Pirates or stop them by offering the blanket Pardon. But there was a problem the colony itself made money of the Pirates with them gone Rogers had a hard time getting Money to Nassau, the Pirate Republic was a Boomtown a Hell on Wheels. There is an Island next to Cuba called Island of Youth this would have make a good place for Pirate Republic LW
  9. Well if I do the Second type of Pirate fiction I would have renamed my Port city based on the Island of Cuba, yes I'm using the island of Cuba in my setting but not the same names for the Island. So I can't use Port Lucre which was based on Port Royal and Havana Now the retooling would have include the Island of Youth which was Island of Pines, the Island of New Providence could be dropped on that Island several times a perfect place to set up a Pirate republic when a Governor comes to drive them out of the city. LW
  10. Well Kraken is the surname of my character's family name, and the Flag itself I think Pirates of Dark Water used the Octopus as symbol of long dead city the main character was fighting for as a Prince. The main reason is that I don't want to get sued by James Bond Movie people, LW
  11. Well as I stated before the Black Octopus is the family crest of the Kraken family and Edward Kraken when becoming a Pirate Captain he made that flag as his standard and id. LW
  12. Hi I need some help I want to create my Pirate Fantasy world setting, but which is way is better, The First is original idea based on Discworld and Monkey Island Video game series it's a world in of the Golden Age of Piracy but the timeframe is 21th Century. The Other is more Hard Historical Fantasy series like A Song of Ice and Fire series, if I did the second idea it would mean a retool and rethink my ideas, I have to create an early 18th century world and other things. So which is better?, LW
  13. I stole the symbol from Spectre James Bond movie main source of bad guys, my character's Edward Kraken family coat of arms is a Black Octopus, his noble family ring is White face with a Black Octopus in the middle. Yes Edward comes from a noble family fell on very hard times his Father is in service to self made noble family as a Butler. LW
