  1. Thank you William. I was gifted a hand made will and ink from Mary Diamond at the Fort Rodman Pyrate Invasion last year and I need practice with them. I took a look at the thread you suggested, thank you. I never thought about the paper. I have a leather bound journal with hand made paper in it that I now plan on bringing with me to events. :-) Period correct ink, pens and paper are not required for this. And in some cases, being hand written isn't required. (I understand that some people are physically unable to hand write letters, so printing them is fine) I just want to practice my cursive along with getting to know other pirates, privateers, and buccaneers. At least, that is my hope.
  2. Ahoy Everyone! I was curious if there is any interest in pen pals. It's nice to get something in the mail other than bills. It also gives people a chance to work on their penmanship, which seems to becoming a dying art form. Personally I like using 'period correct' items, if possible, and like to write while at events. Not always, but it's fun for me. Anyway, would anyone like to be Pirate Pen Pals? If you are on Facebook, I run a group called Rennie & Pirate Pen Pals if anyone is interested. If you would like to look for someone other than myself to write to, or in addition to me, it might be worth a look. I don't post addresses, but encourage people to send a PM with the address for privacy and security. -Cassandra
  3. LadyBarbossa, Thank you for the reminder. And because of it I would like to extend my apologizes. Recently I posted in just about every pirate group on Facebook, that I belong to, advertising an event I work for. I didn't even think to ask the group admins first. And I'm one of the first people to complain about how so many people have forgotten manners. My apologies again, Cassandra.
  4. I'm speechless. Dutchess, thank you. I love writing and I'm even working on a book of short, historical, pirate stories. Not for publication, but for my own use, as my start as a Bard. Also I even have a Pirate Pen Pal Group. Thank you so much for my beautiful glass pen. I will have much fun learning how to use it. I've long been fascinated with bladder filed fountain pens, and I was taught by Mary Diamond at the Fort Rodman Pyrate Invasion 2015 how quill pens were made. I look forward to participating in next year's holiday exchange. :-)
  5. Coastie, No worries. I wasn't thinking about warmth but I was thinkin' that it would keep them from fightin' *lol* I'm glad they are enjoyin' it.
  6. I'm glad you all like it. It is crocheted, and if you would like a slightly larger one for the 3 year old, I can do that. ;-)
  7. Anxiously awaiting to hear what everyone got. :-)
  8. Plottin' the course for 2016. If you have anything you would like me ta include, please let me know.

  9. Thank you for the reminder, Jas. I need to get moving about the Ball.
  10. True. Hey Coastie, why not take the boat out in the Southern waters in the Colder weather. ;-)
  11. Sounds like a great way to spend the Winter to me. :-)
  12. Other than research and writing.... Taking inventory of exactly what we have for reenactments, and gathering them all into the same spot. (an epic task since we are merging 2 houses into an apartment and storage units) I'll be working on my part of the Fort Rodman Pyrate Invasion, The Salty Ball, and the master calendar of events that I post every year for everyone.
  13. William, I don't know what is wrong with Mother Nature, but it was 73 here.... Its just crazy. Its not helping me at all either.
  14. Oh I remember when my daughter began cutting her first tooth. (She's 14 now) Long nights. Good luck with the winter cover.
  15. Not really, other than maintaining my focus on the New England area. Also trying to stick to actual facts vs what Hollywood had 'taught' people. What topic (s) I talk about will vary on the audience. So never the same stories twice, hopefully.
  16. Still trying to get stuff packed and safe for the winter. So much left to do. Between helping with the Fort Rodman Pyrate Invasion I'm researching Pirates in the Northeast, fact and fantasy, and writing stories that I can tell at events. Eventually working up to being a Bard. Also working on remembering Pirate and nautical terms. Having my own book in front of me makes it easier to talk to the patrons about the weapons that we have, how they were used/cleaned and the like.
  17. Not too much. Working on Piratical stuff for 2016 and RSD/CRPS Awareness Month. How about you?
  18. Jas. Hook, I will start kicking people about the Ball this week. (I was in charge of everything in social media for it last year and am the 5th Pirate King of New England) As soon as I have any information, I'll post it. To all of the new recruits, welcome aboard!
  19. Work on 2016's event has begun! As I get more information, I shall keep you updated, being as I am the Secretary and 'Social Media' person. :-) I'm looking forward to an event better time in 2016!
