I have tried to get them to have a pirate event there for years, but Hyde County keeps saying no. SOmething to do with a party they used to have called Bucanner Bash. There was a fatality during a dune buggy race, since then they shut it down. Maybe if the Raleigh faire goes over well they will look at the numbers and reconsider.

Well the Raleigh Ren Faire is in its tenth season now, and again, it was really depressing. Don't get me wrong, I love all the actors that keep coming out year after year to show support, but let's face it, the faire is in serious trouble. After ten years, you would think a faire would gross more than $250 in gate fees over three days. So what's the answer? Simple, we steal it!!!!!!!!! I have begun working on all the paperwork and am awaiting non profit status for the historical group helping to sponsor this event, but I can promise you this, within the next two years, we will have a pirate festival in Raleigh NC, and it will be one hell of a party. Any vendors, actors or fellow pirates interested in this undergoing, please send me an e-mail at raleighpiratefest@hotmail.com We have a great campsite with indoor and outdoor facilities, plus about four stages, six standing buildings and an indoor pavilion for vendors with a stage inside as well. We will have two fight circles, as well as a actual tavern set up for patrons to flow in and out of and see pirates at their best, (no real alcohol involved on site, but hey, that's what after parties are for!) The area is at the state capitol faire grounds and we have a lot of space to work with. I will be posting updates for everyone as we progress, but just let me know if you have any ideas or questions.
