  1. OH! Off the path for a minute please: But that takes the fun out of it. You shouldn't be able to see us coming... Unless you're scared. You are welcome. Ditto... Probably in a different way but Ditto none the less. And I am so bummed I missed this one. I would have picked Ishmael as he is more insane then I. Makes me look sane.
  2. Royal Navy Captain!! You can... Umm.. Mold them. More often then not they are bitter inside and waiting for someone to show them why. Sorry Chrispy. Letter of Marque or Warrant for your arrest?
  3. I am looking forward to the next Devil's Dozen. If I remember the last one stipulated that the final choices had to show at Fell's Point so I don't think it matters where the submissions come from. I think it would be GREAT to see a multicultural Devil's Dozen as most pirate ships were multicultural. With the encouragement and support from my crew and friends, apparently I must be nominated.. I know I have a sword but they have swords too and they outnumber me. And I'm only Captain. They could oust me so.... I know Canada is not across the pond (And I'm not French Canadian- Just 'boring' ol' Canadian) but we are another country. If we can pull a nomination together I think it would be wonderful to see European (English, Irish, Scottish, Spanish, etc...) submissions, Asian submissions, etc..... A plethera of accents in one room. And half of them 'REAL'. That'd be wild. Hey.. Has anyone thought of doing a fundraiser for plane or hotel for the final group? Maybe a donation button (Minimum $1 or something) on the voting page? If not help them get there and stay, maybe enough for a dinner as a group. Help folks (especially over seas or other countries) get to the final pick. Maybe a sponsorship of airfare or hotel from the companies (hotels and airlines) in trade for an ad or place for their banner (webpage?). Tourism in BC supports but isn't really in a position to financially contribute to events and such but what is the tourism department near by the event like? If you tell them in the final vote, there is a good chance someone is coming in from another country and they may convince folks to come with or advertise this local event in other countries, they may just chirp up. I'd really like to see this succeed. I think it is a wonderful idea and a great moral building project for a broad range of folks interested in pirates on sooo many levels. It's also a great way to support the entertaining and/or educational in this reality and world we have created. So there.. My ideas and what is sitting in my little head right now. Thanks for the moment.
  4. Dagger unless a Scotsman in a kilt comes with that Dirk. (just for you Zingara ) White sails or coloured sails. (If coloured, what colour and why)
  5. Thanks you lot for the thoughts. It really puts it all in perspective when you think of this man and his 'group' starting something so grand as a renfest (and establishing a format many of us still follow) and they pass away one by one.. Leaving behind something that, in so many ways, is timeless. Something that makes so many people feel young again and drives forward others to create and grow. Sigh I've had my moment and thank you all for being part of it. I can only hope that I have the strength that he had and I can continue on. Thanks.
  6. Gold. easier to melt down and hide, if need be. Spain or Scotland?
  7. A quick check in. Writing script, prepping for gig, going to see a friend off tonight (moving East), Meeting tomorrow another Sunday and first batch of auditions Monday and Tuesday. Don't know where my head is at so if anyone found it, let me know.

  8. love the idea I will supply the skunks . So... Now that we have decided that Skunks work.. Who is bringing the skunks? Who is providing the cannons? Where are we firing them from and... Who are we firing them at? Government buildings, Politicians, Bad Neighbours house, and --- in laws are all acceptable answers. And Chrispy. Since you 'Figure Head' (I actually didn't see that one coming - Bravo) this answer is just for you Chrispy. Hard place Don't think I need to add to that. Myth or Legend
  9. Elena... You sneaky devil... Now I see the play on the middle name. 'Ann' Clever. Very clever. Thank you.
  10. You are very welcome. Due to its small size it isn't as accurate as the bigger full size ones but it works all right. The company that makes them does some incredible little history pieces and when I saw that one I fell in love with it. I think they might actually be sold out now (They had a small batch of them left) but I bought one for you, and I must confess, one for myself. I'm considering putting it on a little chain and wearing it with Charity. I'll probably tuck it inside my shirt so that it is safe but pull it out when we are somewhere different and work with using it. Actually.. If I may... Since you live somewhere else on this great planet (somewhere other then where most of us are) it might be cool to move this talk to another place on the form (any suggestions folks) and we can actually see how well such a small version of these work in different places. How's that sound? Gotta dash. Tons to get done. Happy I did right by you. Happy it got to you.
  11. Oh I LIKE that. Can that also apply to an artist?
  12. A moment of silence, if you will. Ron Patterson, creator of the beloved Renaissance Faire, passed away on Jan. 14, 2011 at 80. This man was one of the few who were left from the original group that began the very format I (and others) use for the renfest or renfaire. He is the one who kept it alive. He's an incredible man and a moment of prayer and best wishes to his children (who continue to keep his company alive) would be appreciated. for more you can read the article on him here: http://sanrafael.patch.com/articles/creator-of-renaissance-faire-dies-at-80 Thank you.
  13. Finalising a contract for a public gig fund raiser, setting up for two presentations over the next 2 weeks, making copies of paperwork for obligation mid Feb. fight practice, singing practice, video edits, web stuff, social media - My computer and I are spending WAY too much time together. Miss you all. Will try to come back more often but...

  14. Then I shall not worry. I've done some of this kind of thing in the past and it's always a bummer to get stuck with someone else's inability to follow through or their inability to let you know that they can't. I hate seeing it happen to another. You are very welcome.
  15. STINKPOTS. After you spend some time with my crew you'll understand. It's scary when something like a stinkpot can't affect you because the smell is too familiar. Maybe we should put skunks in the cannons. Hmmm.... Figure head or straight forward bowsprit
  16. I do like your reply, my dear. Partially for what it says and partially as it puts it in the present as well as a past. I'd like to add: an understanding of your Brethren, your location and your surroundings, as it is a community. Like any cultural based group and history/fantasy/fiction focused interest, it has to exist inside a larger scope of life. Being a pirate and presenting a pirate are two different things. If you are being then you would have to ask a modern day pirate. If you are presenting then it is up to the ones you are presenting to and to those you trust your presentation with. So.. For me. What is above is wonderful (Thank you Lady B- Such grace) but add.... Being a pirate is finding the correct audience and the correct combination of images, in order to educate, inspire and motivate those around you, no matter what age. And on top of that.. Being a crew is giving the impression that your don't always get along (so that kids can learn that people don't always get along and so adults can relate) but somehow you work it out in the end. THEN applying that to the real life you co-exist in. And since piracy is based in democracy, this would make sense. Break the rules, over you go. Work it out, stay on board. Good lesson to teach kids. I suppose I can't stop thinking like an actor/performer. I've been doing this for a very long time. Still enjoying it and still making it work so I guess it's all right.
  17. Yum! Charred candy. You invite me if you do, Okay?
  18. Ditto! I say next year we do a little 'fund' for the 'missing in action' so she doesn't have to pick up the whole bill. Maybe have a paypal where we can all donate maybe... $2 or more (depending on what you have to spare) for those what go astray. What cha think?
  19. Chrispy - DARN IT! I can't disagree with you here. Shucks. Catch you later on another form. And I.. Umm.. Aw hell.. I like your silly hat. Jendobyns - I had some huge issues with 'eating beads' as I sword fought so I put more things on my sash. Then they wrapped around the sword as it came up. So.. My modifications included feathers and light weight things on the front braids or longer braids. Heavier things on shorter braids and behind the others. One of our Gypsies at the renfest one year, made me a wired ear cuff out of copper wire and little glass beads as well as a single silver feather. It was such a precious gift and she wanted me to wear it with my outfit. She picked the beads and colours for Charity. But it kept getting pulled off my ear so after it got pulled off again and fell under the car (Had to send a minion under for it) I asked her permission and once received, wrapped the copper around the one braid (tucking the copper end in the braid) and it stays nicely. Makes the braid a bit stiff at the end but works on the decrease in swing. As to 'value'. My character is an ex-noble (bitter and jilted) so it is decoration. I also don't have pierced ears so the 'pretties' have to go somewhere. And the kids love 'em!! I tend to encourage them to 'move' a bit if I am trying to make eye contact with the kids. It keeps them locked long enough for me to reach into my pouch or mini treasure chest to get out a 'gift' to start their own treasures with. And my dear Captain B. I do hope our paths cross. That would be delightful. Keep up the wonderful work. Until next time.
  20. First off. The woman Captain leaves to take care of beating the crew and you overlap each other. Next on my list of.. Things... Ah! Incredible comparison... I can see it... WHAT!?!?! I don't know about you Chrispy but I'm offended. First they spell your name wrong (Shame - We're not cutting you in on the profits) Second: I think if we did a pirate version of Moonlighting (although to pirates that could mean something else all together - Put away the canons boys. Just drop those pants/leggings/breeches) we'd make a fortune. A good PR pirate and we'd be on our way. So.. Your studio or mine? Cutthroat Island... One of the best and the worst. ----------- "Retirement" Settle down rich or go down fighting?
  21. Little overtired from al the work I am catching up on. Apologies for not being by recently.

  22. Really? Back in Ontario we had less issues on this sort of thing, but when we were down in Maryland we had friends tell us these stories about the 'dance they do' and then her in BC some are just fine and others... whoa boy. It seems to depend on not only the 'city' but sometimes the background of the gig. I remember this one face painting gig that was so worried about Disney we couldn't do Disney designs and then when we did the stuff for the Science Centre we could do anything and they are the same city. Huh....
  23. Well then.. May we meet one day and trade a bangle or coin.
  24. 1. Really? Hmmmmm. 2. Mersausage would do fine. Know a good source? 3. Yes... And? 5. Fair Maiden? Why do you men not give my crew a lesson on talking to a lady? Lady is not a term used in my company much. Captain does nicely enough... I am rarely called lady on board anymore.. Unless they want something from.. Oh.. I see.... AH HA!! Captain will do nicely... Corked. Keep sun off. Marooned on an island (bye bye) or simply pushed over board (Whoops)?
  25. I as actually kind of wondering if the congressman was flattered or caught of guard or.. I like those types of stories. We're doing a gig next month where we will be working with one of the local mayors. From what I hear he is a hoot to work with and we have some great 'stabs' planned for him. So.. I'd like to know.. What happened? Hey.. If this makes a different subject, Bildgewater Browne.. Did we want to start another post on another section. Talk about these sorts of experiences and stories? Later and I do thank you Hurricane for adding more to this. Folks we do gigs with ask this one a lot.
