  1. Great to hear from some of my esteemed comrades. It's unlikely that I can make it all the way to Fell's Point this year on this short notice. Since Portland Pirate Festival is going to be invading Olde Town St. Helens and is moving to Labor Day weekend (September), I'd like to suggest that we leave ourselves more time to plan the next indoctrination. This is the first I've heard about a return to Fell's Point, and that date is fast approaching. Perhaps you would all consider Portland Pirate Festival as our next, or a future gathering place for the Devil's Dozen and give the west coast equal time. Portland Pirate Festival may have a Friday night event in the St Helens ballroom, so maybe that could become an evening for The Order of the Leviathon??? Just a thought. If not this year, then some future year, we'd love to host. We don't have money after the torrential deluge we were pounded with last year, but hope to recover with our move to the St. Helens, just a 40 minute drive from downtown Portland. I also do have a very special pirate who should be considered as a future Devil, Luc the Lucky (Portland Pirate Festival Co-Producer). How do we go about throwing names into the hat, if Pirates Magazine is not having the online contest? If I don't see you all again in Fell's Point, then possibly in St. Helens, OREGON? (It is the home of the filming of TWILIGHT, but please don't hold that against us!) Yars truly, Margot la Mechante
  2. Wow, this is an older one, since it says 3rd annual and we are headed into our 5th annual now. I sent you the current one by email. Thanks so much!
  3. I'm uncertain how to add a pdf here. The logo is on our website My link but it says 5th Annual. I have a version without 5th annual, a bit more plain. How can I send it? Inserting image is not working. Sorry for my stupidity. Too many websites, facebooks, Myspace Music, Twitter, etc. etc and all function differently. I'm a bit illiterate. We also do have a BOOM Jolly Roger but as Navigator of BOOM (not Captain, although I am Captain of the BOOM Bilge Rats - band) it's probably best if we can create a jolly roger from the PPF logo, since I'm actually Captain of PPF. Thanks Captain Midnight. I know I can email it to you.

  5. As Co-Captain of The Portland Pirate Festival I'm supposin' that would be the best jolly roger to submit, although it's more of a logo than a Jolly Roger, so not sure it will work for your purposes. Maybe we could simplify it and create a jolly roger from the logo? I'm not very skilled at such things. Hope this shows up.
  6. Finally found you all. I too believe we can make the name our own and set our own rules. We are pirates after all. I looked up Leviathan back in February and found the biblical meanings as well as the simple meaning "larger than large". Let's not worry about changing such a great name and let's take over the lead on Google. I also found a site about a big cock (pardon mon francaise) when I looked up Leviathan. We all know we don't have those, eh? For me the image of sea monsters forms. For a long time, every time we got call at Portland Pirate Festival headquarters asking if we were celebrating MODERN DAY PIRACY (Somalis, etc.) with our festival, I struggled with how we might look to some on the outside. Many of those calls came from Christian media. But, little by little we have brought most folks around when they visit us with their families, take part in the most fun they've ever had while helping us raise money for charity. It's about adventure, freedom and helping others along the way. Even if that simply means a smile on a child's face when they see us. We can fret over such things for naught. KLOVE (Popular Christian Radio Station) ended up as a sponsor for Pirate Fest last year, after a couple years of calling us out for celebrating piracy. Now they get it! I suppose for those of us who might be superstitious, our name could bring some worry. But I vote for keeping the name and creating a nobler connotation in our own right. If'n pirates can ever be noble????
