  1. Aye, nifty article if I do say so meself. Shame I can't find one of them!
  2. Not trying to be smart, but midsouth buccaneers seems like ... the midsouth.. like texas and that, northeast/midatlantic most people assume to be, PA, DE, NJ, MD, NY, etc.. I don't know if theres a miscommunication here, but I would assume so.
  3. I'm from PA and willing to travel around, I'm in :) I'm always looking to broaden my people spectrum Pirate don't sail well alone! (P.S. I come with webdesign and IT skills, so if you want to make a group discussion area let me know :))
  4. For a job I deal a lot of work in the marine world and trust me there is plenty of quality wooden sailboats still around. I am personally in the preparation stages of building a 16ft cajun pirogue, to the tune of pirate modifications similar to the pic attached, I figure not the 40ft canoes henry morgan used, but something a little more manageable
  5. I've been following all the rumors of a sequel since I heard the first one. Many developers later it's absolutely amazing to finally see some proof that it's coming!
  6. Stephan Talty's Empire of Blue Water, written in 2007, is a biography of Morgan and partial history of the conflict between the buccaneers and the Spanish Empire. I'm about 85% complete with it on my second read through it, I read it once quick and then rereading to pull the actual history part as a real knowledge base(first time I read it for the story.) I truly believe this book did a wonderful job of not going overly "theatre" and "pro-pirate" they said what he did good, what he did bad, who inspired him, what he learned. It's a definate good read for a more neutral take on his life. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a good history book that reads like a storybook. I picked it up at an airport while my flight was delayed and debated over a few other books they had, I'm glad I went with this one!
  7. /vent Wal-mart is a giant crock of shit. We've been fighting them in my area for years. Theres already 3 or so in a 15 minute radius and they are trying to put 2 more in to push out all the little guys. I wish all you self proclaimed wally world shoppers would support real people(edit: didn't sound right after i reread this sentence, but tough cookies you know what i mean ), not some ceo that hasn't done anything usefull his whole life except collect his 9mil a year... Not to say I've never been to walmart, but I avoid it all costs, I buy my groceries from the family owned grocery store in my town, auto parts from an old man owned napa store, hvac from a retired marine, i try my best but when most americans feel that wally world is the greatest thing since sliced bread, i'm fighting a losing battle. and it's not just walmart, i walked in a protest in gettysburg, pa, they are fighting to put a casino and waterpark dead smack on a small plot of battlefield that the local citizens history group can't afford to buy from some rich P.O.S., he'd rather sell it for a measly 20mil instead of the 7mil the historical society offered, to some casino tycoon, i think that guy and his many millions can afford to kick back a little to the country that made him rich...greed.. my point of view: when your company has to pay people to say hello, i don't want to go to your store. /endvent

  9. the feared Puddle Pirate!

  10. Ahoy me hearties! My real name is Gregory, but me pirate tagname be Navis Hawkins. I hail from the port of Pennsylvania, Not much water here so on the normal I be more like a Puddle Pirate! Although I am learning to sail, so soon I'll be a proud Chesapeake Pirate! I spend a lot of time fishing/fly fishing, hiking/backpacking, boating(power and sail from PA lakes to the Chesapeake to the intercoastals/ocean), playing games(Pirates of the Burning Sea, PirateQuest.com). I attend the PA Renaissance Faire on occassion(I wish I had time for more frequent visits). I'm not much for talking about meself, so if ye have any inquiries feel free to impose! My pleasure to meet you all! Signed, Navis Hawkins
