I now understand your frustration. We have gotten quotes of over US $300 for insurance for the upcoming event. It seems that it will cost us more money to go as merchants than to just go and participate, no matter how much you sells. We dont expect to get rich, we just cant justify the trip if we cant defray costs a bit. Ca me fait chier! (p*'s me off, no?)

Mon Dieu! I am doing some research for a friend and I have found that short term Event insurance for a Craft Vendor is expensive!... especially when they hear "Pyrate Festival" though I tell them that we are simply the crafts people, not the "actors" What does anyone else do for this? I just got more information for you... "Not only would pirates in costume be allowable, it would be welcome as it would add a little flavor to the festivities. However, everybody coming has to pay the $20 donation to Mystic Seaport because this is a fundraiser. There are no freebies. Even our volunteers have to pay this time around. If a few of you do plan to come please give me their names so I can put them on the list. We are taking advance reservations so we know how much food and seating to put out." So, no "freebies"... Quel Damage! Oh well, Profit to Mystic is its raison d'être, no?

Here's a small event in your general area... Music of the Seven Seas - Rockland Co., NY - Benefit for Mystic Seaport They are asking for a $20.00 Donation, but I would be willing to bet that they would waive that if you showed up as "entertainment" Here is some information... On Sunday, April 19th, THE BORDERLINE will present Rockland County's first ever Folk Festival. This will be a 5 hour non-stop musical extravaganza from 12 noon to 5 PM, that will take place at the New City Volunteer Ambulance Corps building, located at 200 - Congers Road in New City, NY. The focus this year will be on music of the 7 seas and will be a preview of, and a fundraiser for, the 30th annual Mystic Sea Music Festival that is scheduled to take place at the historic seaport in Connecticut on the second weekend in June. There will be no less than 8 performers & bands coming from as far away as Maine, New Hampshire, & Rhode Island that will be joined by local performers who are all well known singers and players of Sea Chanteys. Many are old favorites who appear annually as regulars at the Mystic Festival. Headlining the show and acting as emcee will be GEOFF KAUFMAN. He will be joined by STOUT, CHARLIE IPCAR, FINN & HADDIE, BARNACLE, STUART MARKUS, FRANK WOERNER, & RICK NESTLER. More performers and groups of performers may be added in the coming weeks. All the performers will be donating their services to raise money for this historic festival which is in danger this year due to the faltering economy.

Thanks for the input. I have learned a lot in making this KD version versus a traditional solid lumber version... The next incarnation (coming as soon as next week) will have no externally visible fastenings and the KD (Knock Down) fittings will be less obvious and even easier for the end user to assemble. The internal details such as half shelves or the "till box" as it was sometimes called, would certainly be available. I will be sure to post the new images as soon as I the next chest is built.

Permission to come aboard, Mon Capitans This PIP will be mi first big event and I am very excited. I put together my kit for it now and wish it ready for then. I want to know what I will need to bring to help with encampment. I have oiled canvas for cover to which I am now handstiching line and grommet. Next, a basic kit.

I really enjoy doing this kind of work and Winter is an excellent time for me to fill in some "empty days" during my Off Season.
