About Me

I have been sailing for as long as I can remember, I started on the Connecticut Shore of Long Island Sound. My Father was a Maritime Artist as well as an animator for Fleischer Bros. (Popeye, Betty Boop and Coco the Clown) he was also an accomplished mariner and taught me well. Seamanship, Navigation and Marlinspike work were part of the regimin. I have spent the majority of my adult life living aboard one boat or another. From living out of a seabag while hopping from one delivery to the next to fulltime duty on a charter vessel or private yacht. I haved logged over 40,000 sea miles between New England and the Carribean. Offshore, near coastal, Intracoastal. Florida to the V.I., the B.V.I. The trip of my lifetime though was to Hawaii via the Marquesas, French Polynesia. That was in 1979 and the memories are as vivid as if I'd crossed last month. I lived in Hawaii for about 10 months. The only thing cooler than the Hawaiians were the Marquesians! What an amazing culture.

Of course growing up on the Sound we learned the tales of Capt. Kidd. Did he bury his treasure on Faulkner's Is. or on the Thimbles? Then there was Ned Low, not to be forgotten! Begin with a trip to Mystic Seaport Museum at four years old and I was destined to follow the sea! Devour Maritime History and sail for each horizon I view!

I'm presently living aboard the m/v"Patience" in Morehead City, NC. I've lived on her for 15 years. I'm currently a member of Sinbad's Crew on the Privateer "Meka"II, 8 Guns. Homeport Beaufort, NC. You can check us out at pirate-privateer.com. If all goes well I shall cruise the ICW and L.I. Sound and cruise my old home waters for the summer. For now I'm preparing my coalstove for this winter's use!
