So I thought I might give this another try. Last time worked out OK so here it goes. Those of you who dont know me I am the lead bladsmith at Baltimore Knife and Sword and I am the 1stmate of Pirates Magazine. I found myself once again needing some stuff!!! After the Fells Point Pirate Invasion I realized that I yet do not have enough piratical stuff. I dressed several people up for the event and I couldnt believe that I ran out of gear. I myself was left with wearing old garb and a ren fair shirt... Needs! - nice but plain shirts. Can be dirty and warn or can be clean. Looking for correct period not ren fair shirts. - Im looking for a few wastecoasts that I can fanc…

What places would you guys suggest for buying one? Or patterns for making one? I'm working on putting together (edit) a better costume, while it may not be accurate, and any suggestions and/or personal experiences/references would be appreciated thanks!

You know, with the right puffy shirt and some cool thigh high boots and a tricorne hat, this too would make a great pirate coat! http://tinyurl.com/8e9v9

***SHOE BUCKLES AVAILABLE NOW!*** Take a look (also at my Footware Site) These were made up from an original in my collection. This style would be good throughout the GAoP, and will take 3/4th inch (or 19mm) latch. They are currently "IN STOCK" I got hit up for some heavy shipping/import/customs charges (I am in Germany) that were unforeseen, so I have had to raise my price a bit. Brass Buckles $30 Silver Buckles $35 Set of each $60 If interested, please send me a PM or E-mail. Greg aka GoF

ARTICLE 6: That Man that shall snap his Arms, or smoak Tobacco in the Hold, without cap to his Pipe, or carry a candle lighted without lanthorn, shall receive Moses's Law (that is 40 Stripes lacking one) on the bare Back. Now I don't want to be receivin' Moses' Law or nuthin, so I best be gettin me a pipe with a cap or sumthin'. I've seen them lovely clay Tavern Pipes, but they're not practical for life at sea. What kind of a capped pipe might a pirate use?

Hey, this is my first post. I'm looking for a leather tricorn (not necessarily a repoduction from Pirates of the Caribbean or Brotherhood of the Wolf, but I'm not opposed to that, depending on the price and the quality of the hat). I've looked for a while, but the few good hatmakers I've found only work in felt, which I realize is period specific, but not what I'm looking for at the moment. Are there any good hatmakers out there that would work in waxed leather? Thanks in advance.

Hi all; My girlfriend and I are getting dressed up for the POTC2 opening night, in proper pirate gear. Now, everything I've read suggests that when women became pirates, they generally wore men's garb so they wouldn't be discovered right away. They didn't necessarily run about in skirts and bodices. Am I wrong in this? I mean, there were a handful who were already known as pirates and so probably wore whatever (Grainne comes to mind), but it seems to me that those who were running away for their piratical adventures, and not as the wife of someone on board a ship, were most often in breeches, weskit, etc. Am I way off base here? I'm trying to be accurate from a his…

I've a pair of bone colored shoes I purchased a year and a half ago for a gown I no longer have and most likely will never used these shoes again in the bone color. So... now I want to change them from bone to black. I want the heel though to be red. Anyone have suggestions? Ideas? what works, what doesn't? Must I strip the color? Or just use a black leather dye over the white? Help? Please? ~Lady B

We are starting a new auction to benefit the Columbus Santa Maria. As many of you know, the ship hosts a couple of pirate events per year. Due to budget cut-backs, the City no longer contributes any operating money so the ship has to live on admission tickets and fund-raisers like this. We have some nice merchandise. There are some hand-knitted caps and three different lanterns. Mickey contributed one of his cartridge boxes. Plus other pirate and nautical goods. The items will start showing up starting Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 9 pm EST. Search on seller "MarkAndJennieG". Mark

Hello, I'm trying to put together a pirate costume for Halloween and Ren Faires, but footwear is a bit of a sticking point for me. Can anyone suggest some places that sell square-toed boots for smaller than average pirates, preferably boots that don't cost a hook and a peg leg? My feet aren't super tiny for a woman, but in men's sizes they're only 5 1/2s. So far, all the websites selling affordable pirate boots that I have found only go down to around size 7 for their masculine styles. I would really appreciate it if some could point me in the proper direction.

Having made a couple of tricorns from blanks, which I trimmed with 'glued' on mettalic braid, I want to try something a little more challenging, like sewing on a fabric 'ribbon' trim. So the question is... what kind of material would be suitable, and how should I go about sewing it? Do you sew it on before or after steaming and tacking the sides? And do you fold it over the edge of the brim and sew it to both sides, or just sew it flat on the 'outside' side? Also, hand or machine, and what kind of stitch? TIA!

I have for sale one early 1700s frock coat. It's the prototype that was used for the photoshoot for our website. It was only worn for a few minutes for this photo: It is made from olive green 100% wool gabardine (tropical wool a.k.a. "summer weight") and lined with natural linen. There are nearly 100 pewter buttons on the front, back vent, sides, cuffs and pockets. The coat is US size 38. I understand that is equivalent to European size 48 (chest ~96.5 cm). It will also fit a woman American size 8/10. The first $250 takes it. I will ship anywhere in the world. Customer pays shipping. PM me if you're interested. I accept money orders, checks in US funds, cred…

So, what do you wear on your feet if you don't want to wear shoes, don't want to wear a (improbable anyway) pair of floppy boots, and don't want to go the plastic flip flop route? Is there a period equivalent of sandals?

Where in Escondido, California can I find these? I've looked at Hot Topic, Frederick's of Hollywood and Victoria's Secret and no luck. Hot Topic only has striped footless socks, not the stockings. Anyone in the San Diego area know where I can find striped thigh high stockings? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Some of you may have seen this already. But for those of you who have not... it's more a quick & easy access now to get ahold of a pattern to make 18th c stays! Was at JoAnn Fabrics here in Cedar Rapids... looked at the pattern books.. Butterick has a new pattern out to make 18th & 19th c stays & corsets! I'm BEYOND happy, if you are someone like me who has one pattern it's strapless. These new patterns allow for straps or you can not have the straps if you wish! Various good patterns to different eras. But, I'm still not all that impressed with the 18th or even 17th c selection. There was one dress/gown I thought the pattern was rather dead on.. if not …
