I'm wondering if it is ever possible to find a ship's steering wheel (helm, I'm sure), or a modified one to replace the steering wheel in me car.

Our own scribe, OryginalCinn has released her third book. Here's the review from our friends at bilgemunky.com: “An unapologetic swashbuckling adventure brimming with all the trappings of pirate lore; sword-play, romance, voodoo, long-lost treasure… Cynthia Zeuli weaves a tale that’s historical and fanciful. Her characters are intriguing and faceted, her world grounded, yet supernatural. And her pirates are sinful, likeable, and daring—making this book a wonderfully guilty pleasure for the rogue in us all.” — Check it out at: http://www.archebooks.com/BookIDX/Indexes/...r/LT/LTDesc.htm The book comes in hardback ($20.99) and eBook ($3.99). Happy reading. I had an adv…

I just plundered what is to become our parade float on Ebay for a whopping $27.51 for the hull you see below and the trailer! You'll have to use your imagination here quite a bit, but picture this humble little wreck below painted black with red trim, and the guild name on the back, painters canvas sails on a PVC mast, remove the winshield, strip the inside down, add a poop deck with a railing to the back.... It's gonna be quite a project to convert it, but it should be fun. If anyone has any suggestions I could use lots of ideas and advice!!

I must admit I was inspired by the EITC as seen in POTC2. Got enough fabric to make more, just a little unsure of the length. Should it be longer?

Just wondering if anyone knows a good place to find enough stuff to outfit a party. Bob the Swab and I got married at the PIP festival this year, and now my mom and my aunt want to throw us a party. However, neither one of them knows a Jolly Roger from a cutlass. So...I have been given the duty of finding the items they need and reporting back. Only problem is--I have no idea of where to find the stuff required. Anyone got any ideas about some stuff with skulls and crossbones on it (like tablecloths, napkins, etc)? We have some pretty good ideas for cakes and such, but any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Capt. WE Roberts

OK... for my musket (or my new blunderbuss) I fire using cartridges....... When I did American Civil War reenacting, we didn't use the ramrod,(safety) but loaded from a paper cartradge.... So when I fire my musket, I still do that.... but without using wadding... I just get a "woosh".... with wadding I can get a good (happy) bang.... For some reason people loading pistols never fire thier ramrods... but with a musketl... using the ramrod and wadding is a no-no.... When I make my cartradges, they are a rolled tube of paper with my charge in it..... ( using 80 grains for a .76 cal... ) I'm trying to figure a way of making a rolled cartridge,... then attaching a chunk …

Ahoy again! I saw the threads on garb and thought well if your getting ready for an encampment what can you do to make your camp more accurate for a seaman ashore and some of the helpful things I have found to help distinguish your camp as more than just a normal ren or re-enactment army type setup. Now this might not be useful for PiP but I figured that this is stuff I have learned from others and research it is always good to share the info one has learned. Plus maybe others have stuff they can add and I can learn more. My field of expertise is historical fashion and theatrical costume, but after spending time setting up camp and learning how and what we need I fig…

Some events don't allow for open fires or even lit candle lanterns due to fire dangers or rules. So what can you do and still be able to use those fine lanterns we like to have for camps. I found something pretty nifty, so I thought I'd pass this on. Go to: Harriet Carter That's really enexpensive and I definately plan on getting some for my own lanterns.

Ahoy Mates, I had a rather rough time hunting down websites to pick up some garb. I would like to write this thread in hopes to help out any other swabbies, like me, gear up for pyratiness. During my search I have come across some really great online vendors (I don't get out much). I shall list the online vendors I have used and will update this thread whenever I come across more. I tried my very best to order from PEOPLE! not automated super sites. Supporting the craft is as important to me as living it. Leather Mystics (this link should be working now) was my very first order and they were extremely nice. I even gave crazy measurements (I was drunk at the time)…

Gotta share mateys. I wents ta me local Chinese restaurant fer takeout last night (only one in town). Had ta wait 10 minutes for the order to be ready. I'm sitting in the waiting area next to the window and notice that by the door they had this stack of shelves with stuff on it marked $1.00 for everything. Most of the stuff was plastic kids toys, some shiney wrapping paper, some plasic flowers, and some Chinese decorated hanging gords. I was looking over the gords when I happened to dig up, right in the middle of the pile, a little hand made wooden Chinese pirate ship, in a clear plastic box. It had a different price on it. Since it WAS on the $1.00 shelf, I aske…

I have a baldric from museum replicas - wouldn't really be my first choice if I were buying it today, but we work with what we have. Anyways, one of my biggest complaints about it is the buckle - shiny chrome and whatnot. I've considered just replacing it, but that would require breaking the rivets, and I've had trouble finding properly sized replacement rivets. Another option would be simply removing the chrome finish (not sure what kind of metal I'll find underneath.) I've done some small research online, and most methods seem to involve harsh chemicals (which wouldn't seem ideal since the buckle will still be attached to the leather) or buying special fiberglass pens.…
