Does anyone know where to get coins from the 1690s? Particularly Netherlandish coins. But really, I'll take anything from the 1670-1725 period as long as they look real. You see, I'm making a replica of this coat that was found with coins in the pocket and I thought it would be neat to put replica coins in the pocket.

In Capatin Twill, Gentleman of Fortune started a topic on the The "Admiralty Slop Contracts" discussing what was avalible aboard Naval ships.... SO I decided to make one.... I'm not sure how period is will be, a lot is guesswork, but I figured someone might be interested. I am making it using a grey wool Navy blanket that I got at a yard sale for #3.00 (but they are avalible for about $20 online) In the photos, the grey looks blue, but the close up of the pocket (Jacket 5) is closer to its actual color. I was concerned that the blanket would be too heavy , but after cutting it, and making the pocket flaps, It turns out to be just a little heavier than the Kersey that…

Here ya go- 1730 Scottish Smallsword, scabbard, and hand-made Baldric. I gave $235 plus shipping for the sword & scabbard only. I made the Baldric form hand-woven webbing from Becky's Loom,(Inkle weaving), and black leather. this is the "real-deal", not a denix blade. Fully functional and very well balanced. I want a Schiavona, so I'm letting this one go for $225, and I pay shipping. PM me if intrested.

Ahoy Maties This belt is based on a mid 17th Century German Dragoon sword belt (first picture). It is also very similar to scottish sword belts of the time (smaller picture). As usual I tried to keep historically accurate. The belt is 2" wide and the small buckles are the correct ones for the time period (as near as i could get). There is a large ornate brass buckle on the belt but this can be replaced with a smaller more period correct square buckle if needs be. There is a removable plug bayonet frog (which holds the John Barnett replica version so hopefully will hold other brands too) and adjustable straps to alter the drop on the sword loops (these are quite ha…

I searched for this, but did not find any results, so if this has been posted before, I apologize. Has anyone seen, purchased, or otherwise reviewed the '17th century shoes' available from the Sutler of Mount Misery, G. Gedney Godwin? Scroll the the bottom of the page. The picture if pretty awful, so I can't tell if they resemble the shoes that Greg, aka GoF, so helpfully posts on his site. It does seem as though the tongues are short. The hessian shoes, with their crazy-ass tongues, seems to suggest that era, but from what I can tell about that awful picture, the buckles are much to big. Anyone know? If they are a good match, than that mean the Golden Age of Golden Ag…

I have been looking for the right Neckerchief for some time, and I had found it a while back, but, as the dollar/euro exchange rate sucks, I figured I would save some money and pick it up in person, instead of paying their hefty 20€ ($28) shipping charge. This neckerchief comes from the Le MusĂ©e de l'Impression sur Etoffes or the Museum of Printed Textiles in Mulhouse, France. They have a pretty interesting collection of stuff, and is worth the stop if you are in the area. I happened to be in the area last weekend, as my wife (aka the "Warden") has family in Switzerland, and we were going there to spend the weekend. Mulhouse was on the way, so we stopped by. Unfort…

Original 18th century cutlass/hanger blade with antler grip and brass fittings for sale. The antler has a split on the back side and the blade has pitting and patina commensurate with age. I bought this some years ago with plans to do a restoration, but haven't ever found the time so am reluctantly selling. I'm looking for $250 but will consider sensible offers from pub-users.

I've failed miserably twice in making my centerseam mocs, so am altering my costuming to include actual shoes from the 1700s. Townsend has some nice ones, but I'd like options. Anyone else know of dealers in period footwear that aren't boots? I'm wearing out my search engine!

I have to fund some other projects, so something must go... On offer is a completed Handmortar Kit from The RIfle Shoppe This is the one for sale! (photo by our own Black John) This is a high quality kit from the folks at the Rifle Shoppe, its not imported from India! Handmortars have been around since at least the 17th century in various lengths, calibers, and lock mechanisms. The Rifle Shoppes model resembles those found in the Early 18th century and can be seen in various museums (West Point and Morges come to mind) The idea was to be able to launch a grenade farther than you could throw one. For more General Info on Handmortars, see http://www.gentlemenoffort…

Take a look at this site: www.whirlwindtraders.com/chrisknifepage.html This guy makes really authentic 18th cent. knives at extremely reasonable prices. I plan to order the Spanish belduque, a real beauty and good for any time between the 16th-19th centuries. It's a variant of what Peterson in Daggers and Fighting Knives of the World" called a "Mediterranean dirk." But he makes many plain utility knives as well, and most of them are good for the GAOP.

Like my other ads, I had to order mass quantities to get the correct reproductions for my Teague set. And I have to get rid of some surplus or I cant start on new toys. 23MM dull brass buttons. Very heavy duty and superior quality. My peon account at ebay is loaded, so they will have to be paypal or local business. $1 apiece, free shipping on orders over 10. A coat uses APPROXIMATELY 24, but that changes according to its cut and decorations. Will work with a merchant for a bulk discount also.
