Someone asked me where to buy PC stuff and darned if I could give her a direct answer. So I plowed through the threads here looking for a list of vendors and came up with a bunch. Note that I am not including fabric vendors or anything related to sewing - methinks that really belongs in the new forums in Pyrate Craft now. General Black Hand Trading Company - Consortium of craftsmen who make pirate and nautical items such as hats, tools, ditty bags, etc. Fall Creek Suttlery - focused on Civil War period G Gedney Godwin - an 18th C. Online Hypermart - Clothing, Gear, Musical Instruments, Medical Instruments, Shoes, Hat &c. Goosebay Workshops - C…

I be lookin' at the 'Jack Sparrow' Tricorn at Excalibur Leather. It looks right purty, but anyone know what the grayish lookin' material in the middle of the fold be? Looks like some kind of foam or such. ---Mick MacAnselan Link: http://www.excaliburleather.com/catalog/im...es/Tricorn1.jpg

Back in the old days, sailing ships had hatches which were latticed wood. I remember a few decades and a fortnight ago when I used to work for a yacht manufacturer, seeing some of the skilled carpenters making such things out of teak. This is really tricky. I am embarking on a side business of various furniture. This is the beginning of a prototype one of a teak folding table. it has not been fine sanded yet.

Last weekend I finished building a little blunderbuss and took her to the Ft. Myers festival to check the lock and firing. She fires beautifully and I am ready to sell her. The barrel is 10.5 inches bronze and the hardware is a combination of steel (lock), silver wire (barrel hold downs), and white brass (trigger and trigger guard). The stock is walnut and has a very nice grain to it, this is not an Indian made gun and does not have any Indian parts on it. Price is $600 I will try to get some pictures up tonight

I am now making bronze blunderbuss pistols. They are a boxlock so a more modern flintlock however for somebody looking to carry a pistol around at an event all day they are wonderful due to their light weight and size. I have taken a few pictures of my personal piece (the others have already sold) and will be taking orders. I can change the stock slightly making it smaller or larger, the belt hook was added on mine and can be added for an extra $50 as it is welded and an integral part of the pistol. One quality that makes these nice is that everything from the band to the end of the barrel is one piece of bronze (nothing to rust). Price is $550 with a $200 deposit. …

There was a topic thread started once called Belly Dancing Pirates. I can't remember the gal's name that started it and I could not find any old old posts nor search's. I wanted to post a link here for her or any other's who are interested in that type of clothing to mix and match into their Ren Faire garb or Pirate Garb (sometimes I do). I love the Ghawazee coats and found today a fantastic site that had some. I made myself one for the Labyrinth Ball and was very very pleased with myself on how it came out. It almost looks like the gold on on this website. Ghawazee Coats

'oy Mates, I ahve long been kicking about the idea of a fleet of mini-pirate ships... At 13' in length, it is large enough for a Pyrate Pair to actually sail, and small enough to trail behind even the smallest car. Well, I've gone a head and done it... I have gone into a limited production of these little ships and I am looking forward to bringing one down to Paradise with be this November. I am offering my fellow crew members of this forum an opportunity to view the blog relating to the constuction of the first prototype... http://360.yahoo.com/blacksealcaptain I am nearly finished with hull assembly after which I will go back and adjust my templates and cut files…

I just got one of these things and WOW the thing is huge. The proportions were what I was looking for, it's just half again as massive as I expected. I think I'll end up shaving off a good deal of wood eventually to bring down the mass. ANYHOW... the trigger is terrible hard to pull. Sometimes it doesn't seem to want to pull at all (yes, I'm on the full-cock position ) When I took the lock apart to clean out all the packing grease and stone the rough surfaces, I noticed that on the tumbler, the full cock notch was angled backwards, so that pulling the trigger had to force the hammer a touch back in order to clear the notch. Hence the heavy trigger pull. SO -- what…

I've picked up some 1 1/2" manilla line here and am looking to sell it off relatively inexpensively. It's not period hemp but it's an acceptable substitute. I'm seeing it online for $3.85 a foot but I have it here for less than half that. I'll cut to any length you want and ship it out ups ground. If anyone wants any please let me know.

Tall Ships of San Fransico® are a collection of 1,500 glass plate negative photographs not seen in over 130 years! In 2003 a discovery of historic proportions was made when 17 old wooden crates were opened for the first time in a century, and inside was the biggest story in west coast maritime history. None of these images have appeared in print until now. As we assemble the full history of this magnificent fleet of west coast built tall ships for an upcoming book, we are making a small number of prints available to the public. Ideal for home, office or on board decoration. Perfect art work for seafood restaurants! See our web site or full details: http://tallshipsofsanfr…

With the recent thread about building your own pirate ship, I've been doing some serious research on doing a working, scaled-down version of a Galleon. Well, I found one that has been done. The Time Bandit, named as susch because it was featured in the movie Time Bandits, was built by a father and son in California. It's a working 1/3 scale (43 foot) replica of a Spanish Galleon, now in service as a tour boat on Big Bear Lake in California. http://www.800bigbear.com/timebandit.html This the only web address I found on it. It's supposed to have a website but the link I found was no good. Anyone know any details about this boat or her builders? I'd sure like to see the…

Greetings all. Just dropped in to pass along this wonderful opportunity to the other sailing fanatics here. Jay Henderson, experienced sailor, boat builder & member of the Great Lakes River Pirates has a hand built, 13 foot punt/scow currently available for sale. This boat would make a great addition to an already established fleet, or as a starter boat for those aspiring sailors. I can personally attest to the quality & craftsmanship Jay puts into his boats, as I've had the pleasure of learning to sail aboard one. This beauty would be mine in a heartbeat if I only had the vehicle to tow her with For further information visit the boats page at http://artifa…

Just finished the "Royale" nicknamed that after Pulp Fiction regarding a 1/4 pounder in Europe as a 1 inch lead ball is around a 1/4 pound. Solid bronze shaft was used for the barrel. The lock is Rifle Shoppe. The muzzle inscription roughly translated is "fire from an angry king" as was found on many period cannons. This would be good piece for a crew or for a ship.
