I was talking with my lady the other day about her pirate kit. She's always been the kind of gal who enjoys more the Hollywood-light "Hot Topic" style of pirate. Emphasis on fashion and comfort. I asked her if she'd ever consider taking a more historical approach and creating a period correct kit. Her reply was "only if it's comfortable". If the clothes are too heavy and hot in the summer or too light and thin in the late spring and early summer she won't wear it. Likewise if it binds, pinches or is restrictive she has no interest. She has zero tolerance for discomfort. She has always liked my slops and so I thought it might be a nice approach to offer her the …

After waiting patiently for a reasonably priced first edition of Ashley's Book of Knots, I now find myself in possession of two. When it rains... At any rate I plan to pass on my good fortune to one of you. For a limited time I'm going to offer one of them here. It's not "book collector" perfect but is in excellent used condition, 95% or better. There are two flaws of note: one is the the front cover has a diagonal wrinkle across the bottom half. No damage to the interior of the cover or the binding. The other is that the slip cover has been covered in clear packing tape, so as to preserve it, I suppose, but dropping the collectible value by a bit. So there it is. $65 pl…

English lock firelocks for sale Selling off my English lock musket and pistol, since they are too early for my area of interest. Many locks have been found in North American archaeological sites (not to mention being traded to the Indians), and several specimens have been recovered in the sunken portion of Port Royal, Jamaica. The Indian made English lock fishtail musket has the vent drilled, was purchased from Loyalist IIRC. No projectile ever fired since I’ve owned it (display only, has some minor scratches). I have browned the barrel, trigger guard, buttstock, and ramrod tip. Asking $500.00 including S&H (US only). Exact style is here- http://www.militaryher…

Ok, so I've been reproducing some of the charts from John Sellers The English Pilot recently and have a one-off that hopefully you may want. So this is not a hand drawn chart. It is a scan and print of a hand drawn chart of the James and York Rivers. I hand plotted, sketched and inked the original one (see the comparison picture) When I went to see how a print would look, it would only print at 11 1/2 "x14 1/2" (not the orginal 16"x19") It is printed on laid linen paper and is finished with watercolors. I don't intend to do any more prints of this one, and since I have the original I'm offering this one out. $35 + actual shipping costs Please Email me at cranohlandt@gma…

Ahoay Mates! Circumstances being what they are, I am parting with several of my period weapons. Perfect chance to get outfitted with some new iron before the pirating season gets going! I have a brand-new Doglock Musket, straight from MVT and never fired, the one with the nice curved droop stock (called something "a vache" I think) like a French fusil and the successor to the club-butt long arms. Iron mounted, correct squared off frizzen, flat lock plate, flat buttplate. Excellent handling. Period correct for 17th-18th Century, incl. GAoP and earlier. Asking $650. Original, not reproduction, all-brass (all brass incl. lock and barrel) boxlock turn-barrel pistol, flint,…

Ahoay Mates! I've got several flint, blackpowder pistols on offer if anyone is interested. Can send photos on request, can't manage to hang any on this site! I'm a reenactor so all these are quality, I don't suffer the cheap stuff. But it's time to let some go - I don't have time to use my 'daily shooters' let alone these 'special' ones. And gotta move soon too. So my loss your gain hopefully. All unique finds and only handled to check the actions and keep them oiled. Finely-crafted, US hand-made, authentic snaphaunce pistol, all iron/silver mounts, true highest quality. Period 'concealed carry' pistol, but so fancy you want to show it off. Or at least I do. Never fi…

Ahoy Mates- Anyone know where I might could find a real fabric Spanish burgundy cross flag (Spanish colonial flag)? The castles and lions flag would be good to find too, but the main one I am looking for is a good real fabric reproduction of the red saltire type Spanish colonial flag, the kind that flies over the old Spanish forts in FL and PR, etc. Thanks! aye- John

Firepots were ceramic pots that were filled with oil or gun powder and topped with a wooden fuse. Around the outside of the pot were loops or “ears” that slow match was tied to. The pot was thrown onto enemy ships or fortifications using a lanyard (also tied to the ears or onto the rim of the pot). On impact with a hard surface the pot could crack spilling out the contents that was then ignited by the slow match. If the pot failed to smash then the fuse in the top would ignite the contents. Some firepots even contained a Grenadoe that would be lit when the pots contents ignited This is an inert replica of the firepots found aboard the La Belle shipwreck which san…
